2. ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY (Braco) The water has been fishing very well with plenty of fish being caught at varying depths ranging from Buzzers and small Nymphs to a wide variety of lures and it is good to see the fish moving on the top.

3. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The weather went from winter to summer within a couple of days with the crazy swing in temperature having the anglers confused....never mind the fish. Water clarity varies throughout the pools at present with the Bankside being at peak clarity.
On the Boathouse Pool it has again been mainly small flies (dries or buzzers) which have taken the fish. Stuart McLean enjoyed some excellent sport taking three fish for a combined weight of 10lbs and releasing 18. On Wednesday Dave Cormack returned a superb Brown Trout estimated at 7lbs. Mr. Elder released seven fish including a nice Rainbow estimated at 5lbs. The Burnside has generally fished well, especially to those anglers who have moved around the pegs in order to find the fish. Alan Gray really showed the potential of this pool by returning 22 fish, mainly on Buzzers, Charles Lafferty took eight fish for 19lbs 4oz and returned 2 and young Jake Gilchrist also did well releasing a dozen fish with the best being a superb Rainbow estimated at 13lbs. George Birse returned 10 fish and Tam Costello released 8, mainly on Buzzers. Some decent catches have been taken on the Bankside Pool with Buzzers being the best option. Grant Burnett returned 12 fish and Jock Leslie released 10, Nick Soave took four for a combined weight of 16lbs 8oz– the best fish being a fine rainbow of 9lbs 8oz and Macauley Clark also released a nice rainbow estimated at 8lbs and Frank Sherriff returned 8 on Buzzers. Powerbait beneath a float again proved the best option on the Woodside Pool (any legal method), although spinning took several fish. On Sunday 23 anglers returned 46 fish. There are still some larger than average fish in this pool and this week’s special ticket offer is five fish for the price of four.
This past week of hot weather here at Forbes of Kingennie is seeing a change in the fishes behaviour, as the water temperatures rise they have been a bit fussy at times but when the cloud comes over and cools down the sport at times has been outstanding. Different ponds have been fishing better at different times so moving around has been essential for constant results.
The Bankside pool has been the stand out pond these last few days with lots of anglers having great returns in sometimes trick conditions. The water has become very clear recently and really helped with the returns. Buzzers have been the top method fished either under the bung with an egg or squirmy on the point fished at 5 feet. The washing line has also been effective when the fish are a bit higher in the water. Dry flies have also been worth a cast at points when they have been very active. Mr Kirk had 12 fish and 13 fish in 2 consecutive trips on fabs, buzzers and diawls bachs. His best fish was estimated at around 12lb as well as others of 5 and 7lb. Mr Jones had 12 on black buzzers under and indicator. Mr Birse had 13 on a sugar cube shipman’s.
The Burnside has also been getting very clear with lots of fish visible on the surface cruising around. The fishing has been a little bit slower at times but fishing very well most evenings. Again the more natural approach has taken more fish, The washing line with wee buzzers is the go to method. Dries are doing well in the right conditions when they come up. Mr Westland had 21 on size 14 black buzzers and fabs. Mr Wilson had 2 for 6lb and put back 9 fishing diawl bachs.
The Boathouse has been a bit coloured but on the very sunny days it has been the best pond with huge amounts of fish taking off the surface in the shade. Mr Leslie had a great day returning around 20 fish on small dries and emerges. Mr Fulthorpe had a good morning landing 8 up to 7lb on a pink fab and diawl bachs. Mr Whiteford kept his 3 fish for 8lb and put back 6 on a damsel.
The Woodside pool has been really busy in the nice weather with many full bags being recorded. Green powerbait and spinners have been the top bait of late. Over the weekend there was a total of 37 anglers landed 68 fish for weight of 115lb.
4. MARKLE (East Lothian) Due to the very cold east wind the angling footfall was light but that didn’t deter Donald Hynd from Edinburgh catching a cracking 4lb brown on a lure. Also doing well was John Daly from Edinburgh with 5 on a Dancer, Joe Beattie (Edinburgh) 4 on a Lure, Ron Thom (Haddington) 3 on a lure and Kenny Morrison from Edinburgh used Buzzers to catch and release 4.
5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The week started with some sunny and very warm weather, but the east wind soon returned and the temperature dropped and there was a return to cloudy, showery conditions. Things were a little difficult in the bright sunshine but plenty of fish were still being caught. The end of the week saw some excellent fishing. Bait fishing is proving popular and it is really great to see so many youngsters out enjoying the sport. Maggots, Orange Power Bait and worms are all catching the wide variety of different coloured trout in the Millpond. Fly anglers were also having a good deal of success on the small ponds especially on the days when the wind made conditions more testing on Swanswater. For those anglers choosing to fish the main pond the fish were mostly to be found between 1 and 3 feet down, except on the very bright days when they were much deeper, with the bank from the dam to the boat jetty being the best area. The usual lures and nymphs were taking most of the fish. Fishery opening hours remain at Monday to Wednesday 8.00am to 6.00pm and Thursday to Sunday 8.00am to 8.00pm.

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) At the present time Buzzers, small black Nymphs and Bloodworms are working really well with the loch over flowing with gin clear water. The water temperature is still on the low side with the morning and evening producing the best catches. The Goth Angling club did well last Saturday with the 15 anglers weighing in 52 fish for 150lb – heaviest basket was C Skinner with 4 for 21lb - largest 11lb. Robert Macintyre got a
PB with a cracking 16lb rainbow, Lane Carluke 4 for 12lb + 10 c/r, Kerr Carluke 2 for 5lb, Alan Meek (Cambuslang) 8 c/r - largest 10lbs 8oz and John Shaw from Kilsyth had 9 on catch and release.
