Week 8 Lake of Menteith boat league
Week eight already, half way in and having a great time.
This week my brother Christopher, joined the team. We don't get to see each other that much so it was very nice being able to catch up with all his news, spending a few hours casting a fly line across the water.
After a quick chat to Quint to get the low down, we headed to the cages, sound advice, the conditions were on the whole very good, Chris had a floating line, I had a Rio midge tip, there was a very gentle breeze and it was pleasantly warm.
It wasn't long before Chris had a fish on, and what a fight, it was out of the water like a jack'n the box, going under the boat and trying to wrapp it's self round the oars, getting a spurt on when it saw the net however he managed to get control of it and landed a nice 2.5/ 3 lb rainbow.
It wasn't long before I got my first, on a cormorant, slightly smaller but still gave a good fight.
We spent a couple of hours in drifting in the area and got another fish each.
After giving the cages a good shot we decided to go over to Sandy bay, upon arriving at the desired spot we watched two fellows catch three fish in double quick sucession, but for us it was all over, we tried various tactics however with no joy although we had good fun putting the world to rights as you do.
