Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday, 09 July 2012
The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 08 July, 2012.
1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) The Edinburgh Walton A/C kept 17 fish weighing 45lb
6oz and released a further 10, CIBA A/C 13 fish 32lb, Selmuir F/F 9 fish weighing
23lb 15oz and Dunfermline Rusty Nail A/C kept 14 fish weighing 38lb. Stanley &
District A/C kept 30 fish weighing 51lb 11oz, Tillicoultry A/C 28 fish for 61lb and

The best flies have lures have included Muddlers, Kate McLaren, Daddy Longlegs,
CDC Hoppers and the Dabbler whilst all areas continue to fish well.
2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Like most of the country Kingennie
has not enjoyed the best of weather recently with steady rain leading to some
discoloured water for a while. However, there have still been days when good
catches have been recorded and the extra food brought down in the floods is helping
the fish pack on weight.
The Boathouse Pond has been worst affected in clarity so lures have been the
order of the day with Hot Head Damsels and the Black Fritz being the favourites.
Individuals within the Ogilvie party had two rainbows for 9lbs & the Lax group two for
8lbs 4oz.The Burnside Pond witnessed some incredible evening rises during caenis
hatches with fish dimpling huge areas of the surface. However, catching them was
not easy. At other times the fishing has been hectic with many falling to Hot Head
Damsels, Fritz and various Dancer patterns. The Bankside Pond has retained
the best water clarity with catch and release anglers doing particularly well. Craig
Horsburgh took a dozen on a variety of dry flies and young Robert had 9 on Buzzers
and Hoppers. Sedges have produced some action during brief hatches. The
Woodside Pond has recorded some above average catches with the Addisons taking
six fish for 12lbs 8oz and the Watsons landing five fish for 11lbs 8oz. Best results
have been on orange Powerbait and Mepps spinners.
3. MARKLE (East Lothian) It was a very quiet week due to the horrendously wild and
we weather conditions but the Romano AC from Romano Bridge in the Borders had
a good outing taking 19 fish for 43lbs, Mike Wright, Mayfield, used a Buzzer to take
a nice fish o 10lbs 8oz and Tommy Dickson from Dunbar had the fish of the week at
11lbs 4oz on a Buzzer.
4. MORTON LOCH (Livingston) It was a good week with Douglas Ross from Ross-
shire finding the long journey well worthwhile as he had the heaviest fish of the
week – a 16lb 8oz rainbow that was taken on a CDC. B Black from Edinburgh had
3 fish for 14lbs 8oz on a Kate McLaren, Alex MIllar, West Calder, 4 for 11lbs on
a Bloodworm and Alan Bennett, East Calder, used a Blob to bag 4 for 12lbs 8oz.
The Dunfermline Rusty Nails AC had a good outing taking 24 fish for 58lbs4ozand
returned a further 26 whilst the Last Cast A took 23 fish weighing 59lbs 2oz. Ross
McEwan from Thurs took 34 for 16lbs 4oz on a Gladiator, A Cameron, Bridge of
Weir, 4 for 10lbs 6oz and Gary Marshall from Banchory used a Nomad to take 4 for
12lbs 9oz.
5. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) The water has been fishing very well with lots of fish
rising and with an abundance of fly life on the water most of the fish are being
caught on the top or just under the surface with a wide variety of flies including the
Bloodworm, Diawl Bach, Damsel, Hoppers, Daddies, Sedge and various lures.
Featuring amongst the top anglers was Kong from Crieff with 2 for 10lbs on
a Black & Green Fritz, Robbie Scotland, Stirling, 3 for 8lbs on a Damsel, Ron
Thomson,
used a Black & Green Fritz to catch 4 for 12lbs. Mr Rose from Dunfermline took

3lbs 8oz on a Montana, Harry Graham, Glenrothes, 4 for 13lbs on a Daddy, William
Alexander, Menstrie, had a brace for 8lbss 4oz on a Black and Green Fritz and
Hamish Carmichael, Alloa, took 3 fish for 11lbs 5oz on an Orange Fritz. Last but not
least David Lewis from Larbert caught 4 fish weighing 11lbs 12oz on a Damsel.
Dalguise, 2 for 6lbs on a Rob Roy and Jim Prentice from Tullibody
4 fish for 8lbs on the CDC and Daddies and
6. SWANSWATER (Stirling) It was another week of changeable weather saw very
varied results, with some anglers doing exceptionally well while others found it
harder going. Despite the changing weather conditions the fish remained within the
top few feet of water and were seen moving on the surface throughout the week.
Fish were generally spread out over the main area of Swanswater, although large
numbers of Tigers and Browns are located in the burn and around the mouth of
the burn. Most of the week nymphs, wets and buzzers have been the best option,
with Diawl Bach, Kate McLaren, Spider and Cormorant all working well, along with
various colours of buzzers. Occasional fish have been taken on dry flies, with Sedge
being the most effective. During more challenging days lures such as Black Dancer,
Ace of Spades and Cats Whisker have been working well.
