Week 5 of the L of Menteith boat league
Week five already and i'm just starting to get in the swing of things!
Another awsome evening fishing on the Lake of Menteith. I was partnered up with a lovely fellow called John Mclean (Johny). As usual all the boats set of together heading for what ever spots the guys recon will deliver the goods as it happens the fish were seen close into the side near the start of the Lake so we joined the throng and parked up near Shear point and within a 10 mins Johny had a fish in the boat and then another and another before i even got a whiff of a bite but a bite i got and not wanting to lose it i played it very carefully and bagged my first. 3:1 Johny soon made it 4:1 and then 5:1 before i got my second 5:2 and caught on a Sunburst blob which was a first for me, the first fish i caught was on a Yellow dancer a favourite of mine.
We then decided to move on up to the Butts and i connected with another rainbow this time on a dawl bach again a lure i've never caught on before 5: 3 Johny soon made it 6:3 and 7: 3 then i got one on a cruncher another first for me 7: 4 however it wasn't long before Johny made it 8:4 and then 9:4 and on his last cast of the evening a huge fish took his lure jumped out of the water and then spat him out should have been 10:4. I did manage to hook two small Jack pike which both took my Yellow Dancer and cut my line.!
All in all it was a very enjoyable evening a beautiful sun set, lovely conditions if anything a little breeze would have been nice and Johny was great company. The winner of the evening caught 17! Johny was second with his 9.
