Lake of Menteith 25th April

6ft Water Temperature 9.5 C , Clarity (Secchi disc) 2.4m.

As you might expect to hear in this “editorial”….the Lake is still fishing well! It is though, and there have been
some cracking fish in the 5-6lb mark appearing in the catches. The hotspots in the last week have been Butts Bay,
Sandy Bay, Reedy Point and the Rookery. Buzzer fishing on a midge tip or intermediate lines (with the use of
buoyant flies to adjust depth), have produced top bags in recent days. Not too sure about exact buzzer type but you
can’t go too far wrong with something black. Other flies reportedly doing well are dries, small black booby and
the cormorant. The east wind has been a feature of the past few days. If it eases, the exposed shores at the Malling
will also be worth a throw, otherwise the calmer eastern shores are likely to be popular.

We are now placing drogues in all the boats – so please ensure you leave the drogue in the boat when you leave!

of the cotton bud (pike or mackeral)
fly.

Some club catches from this week
were:
