The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 20 May, 2012.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) It was a busy week with, on the individual front, David

Dupuy from Strathmiglo keeping 3 fish weighing 6lb, Bernard Jackson (Blackford)

2 for 7lb 2oz, Tony Savage & John Shanks (Madderty) had 5 fish weighing 14lb

8oz and Gordon Price (Kilmalcolm) 8 fish for 20lb 12oz. Alastair MacMillan kept 5

fish weighing 12lb 8oz, Scott Griffin (Fishcross) 3 fish weighing 7lb 10oz and David

Younger (Oxford) kept 3 fish weighing 7lb 6oz. John Cooper from Dundee had 4 fish

for 11lb 2oz and Alastair Boomer (Edinburgh) fishing with a sporting ticket caught

and released 6.

On the club front Cowdenbeath & District A/C kept 45 fish weighing 111lb 7oz, Brax

A/C 26 fish for 71lb 8oz, Monifieth A/C 17 fish weighing 42lb – heaviest caught by

Mark Selby a 6lb rainbow and the Bank of Scotland (East) kept 28 fish weighing

73lb.

The best flies and lures have been the Fritz Olive Damsel, Yellow Dancer, various

Cormorants Sedgehogs and the Kate McLaren whilst the best fishing area was on

the north shore from the start of the dogleg to the dam wall.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) It was a fairly quiet week but a number of angling clubs

posted some excellent returns. The Goth FFC had 39 fish for 102lbs 9oz, Arniston

AC had 8 members fish and they bagged 30 for 86lbs and the Honeywell AC caught

31 fish weighing 77lbs 1oz. Jack Hay from Ormiston paid a number of visits and

used a Diawl Bach and a Dancer to take specimens weighing 13lbs, 11lbs and 9lbs

8oz.

4. MORTON LOCH (Livingston) There were some great catches off last week

including a couple of cracking brownies – S Feeney had one of 4lbs 8oz on a Yellow

Bunny and this was included in a C+R basket of 12 fish whilst T Gibson used a

Dancer to take a fine 5lb specimen. Also doing well was B Gribble with 4 for 17lbs

8oz on a Bloodworm and Dancer, C Borthwick took 4 for 14lbs 12oz on a Damsel

and A Smith bagged 4 for 18lbs 3oz on a Coral Dancer. D Young caught 4 for 15lbs

2oz on a Fab Blob, A Brown used a CDC to take 4 for 12lbs 8oz and T McEwan had

4 for 14lbs on a Snake Fly.

5. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) The weather forecast, if correct, sounds a bit brighter for

this week which will help the water warm up slightly and make the fishing much more

enjoyable, so tight lines to everyone. Last week, apart from Wednesday, has been

so cold and windy that the fish were taking about 1- 2 feet down with a wide variety

of flies.

On Sunday the Falcon FF Club had a good morning taking 39 fish for 104lbs with

John Scullion having the heaviest basket with 4 fish for 14lbs 4oz - he best 5lbs

on Black & Green Fritz. Also doing well was Ron Thomson from Dalguise with 3

for 13lbs 8oz on an Orange Fritz, Jack Foster, Stirling, 2 for 8lbs on a Buzzer, Jim

Murray, Kelty, 4 for 11lbs on a Damsel and Harry Graham, Glenrothes, 4 for 13lbs

8oz on Buzzers. Robert Kettles from Perth caught 3 fish weighing 10lbs 4oz on a

Blob, William Smith, Menstrie, 2 for 7lbs on a Black & Green Fritz, Allan Stirling,

Auchterarder, 2 for 6lbs on a Sedge, Peter Paterson, Menstrie, 2 for 5lbs 8oz on a

Blob and Graham King, Almondbank, used a Yellow Dancer to catch 3 for 10lbs.

Last but not least Alex McLaren from Manchester took 3 for 7lbs on a Yellow

Hammer.

6. SWANSWATER (Stirling) Cold east winds and frost at nights have kept the

water temperature down at 9oC which is very low for the time of year.

times of the day. In general fish are sitting around 3 to 4 feet down although on odd

occasions they are nearer the surface. Intermediate lines with small lures or nymphs

have taken most fish. Favourite patterns this week included Dancer, Cat’s Whisker,

Montana, Damsel, Diawl Bach, Pheasant Tail and Buzzer.

Rainbow, Walter Davies, Cumbernauld, 6lb 12oz Blue, Mark Kenyon, Menstrie, 3

Blues for 10lb 8oz, biggest at 6lb 8oz, Donald Williamson, Larbert, 2 for 7lb 12oz

including 5lb 12oz Blue and Derek Hutton, Edinburgh 5lb 8oz Rainbow from the

Meadow Pond. Donald McMurchy, Fallin, 5 for 16lb including 2 Blue and a Tiger, Jim

Potts, Inchinnan, 5 for 14lb 12oz including 3 Blues, biggest at 6lb and a Tiger, Ken

Davies, Cumbernauld, 5 for 13lb 4oz including 3 Tigers and Joe Potts, Inchinnan,

4 for 13lb 12oz including a Tiger. Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, 4 for 12lb 12oz including

a Blue, Robert Henderson, Blantyre, 4 for 12lb 4oz including a Blue and Kevin

Lowe, Grangemouth, 3 Tigers for 8lb 4oz. Jim Denny, Dunipace, 2 for 7lb and Ian

Henderson, Blantrye, 2 for 5lb 8oz including a Tiger.
