5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The weather this week started fairly settled and with the water temperature remaining at 12 degrees, it meant the fish were feeding on or close to the surface with many being taken on dries including Hoppers and Spiders as well as traditional wets doing well. The middle of the week saw more unsettled conditions and a cool easterly wind, but the fish remained it the top couple of feet. During this spell the fish were more inclined to take Nymphs and small lures. Towards the end of the week water temperatures began to drop after the colder nights coupled with the more unsettled weather and heavy showers, meaning the fish were slightly deeper and more were caught on lures, including Cats Whisker, Humungus and Dancer. As the season end approaches, the Brown trout continue to feature in the catch returns, with some beautiful specimens being recorded. With the nights drawing in the fishery is now closing at 7pm.
