4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It has been another very mixed week with Wednesday
being the first very calm day for a while.  The water has fished well in the top 2-3feet most of the time with a wide variety of lures as well as small flies with the Diawl Bach and Buzzers doing very well. Bill Dawson from Dollar took a brace weighing 10lbs 8oz on the Plumber, Tony Fitzpatrick, Dunning, 2 for 6lbs 4oz on a Diawl Bach, Jim Linton, Moodiesburn, 8 fish for 26lbson a Wotsit, Jake Duchally, 3 for 10lbs on an Orange Rabbit and Hector Wilson from Bannockburn used a Green & Black fritz to bag 3 for 9lbs 8oz.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The week started with a very cold north-east wind and water temperature of 3oC and ended with much milder weather and the water temperature at 7oC.   Friday and Saturday were the best days of the week as the water temperature rising and the fish were nearer the surface.   At the start of the week they were at least 4 feet down and the island was the best area.   By the weekend they were in the top 3 feet and well spread out, with the bank from the Dam to the Boats doing best in the morning.   In the area around the Bridge fish were being taken from the top 6 inches.   Lures, such as Tadpole, Humungus, Cat’s Whisker and Dancer were the favourite patterns, with Cormorant, Bloodworm, Buzzer, Damsel and Diawl Bach also taking fish.
On Saturday afternoon one angler was having a lot of success with a Sedge fished just under the surface, and on his advice another angler who was struggling, changed flies and promptly landed a couple of Rainbows.   This coincided with the first hatch of the year; earlier on Saturday the fish were taking lures, but in the afternoon they switched to smaller flies and were being taken downwind which is unusual for this time of year. Two double figure Rainbows were taken this week and there are plenty more big fish waiting to be caught.   A number of Browns were caught and released which is looking good for the start of the season next month. The Fishery is currently open from 8.00am to 5.00pm every day.
