2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The water-levels in the ponds are now back to normal and the fishing has generally reflected this. However, there have still been some frustrating days when good numbers of fish have shown on the surface but have been difficult to catch. The Boathouse Pool fished well again on dries and buzzers, with the occasional fish being taken on green/black or yellow/white lures. Mr. Thomson took two fish for 4lbs 12oz and returned thirteen including a fine rainbow estimated at 8lbs. Several anglers had ten fish or more on catch/release including Mr. Connell and Mr. McNamara. On the deep Burnside Pool George Birse landed/released seventeen taken mainly on a floating fry imitation. Other notable catches included two fish for 5lbs 4oz and seven released by Mr. Kennedy, taken on dries and buzzers (Dennis the Menace and black/silver). The Bankside Pool is settling down after recent weed removal operations. There has been a lot of surface activity but numbers of fish landed have not been as high as anticipated. Mr. Stirling released twelve and George Birse released ten taken on Floating Fry and various dries including Sugar-Cubed Shipman and Yellow Owl. On the Woodside Pool (any legal method) Powerbait has again produced the most consistent results, although some decent fish have been taken on the fly. Messrs. Campbell and Brown took seven fish for 11lbs; the Chesters took five rainbows weighing a total of 7lbs 12oz; the Greaves group landed nine fish for 15lbs and the Blackwoods took seven fish for 11lbs 12oz.

3. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco). Owner Elizabeth Jackson would like to thank all who have contributed throughout the year to the Strathcarron Hospice Charity Day that raised an incredible £3,673 for such a worthy cause.  A special thank you goes to Margaret Wilson who raised £450 from the sales of her delicious tablet and to Mark Gleave with a bottle full of coins that raised £250.
The annual Strathcarron fishing competition was held at the weekend with the 27 competitors catching 74 fish weighing 225lbs 8oz. Boo Haughton from Stirling took first place with 4 fish for 13lbs 8oz, Dougie Stewart was second with 4 fish for 13lbs 4oz that included the heaviest fish at 5lbs, .1/4 lbs including the heaviest fish at 5 lbs, 3rd equal with 4 fish for 13 lbs were John Speedie, Martin Hudak and Kevin Haughton and taking up place six was Davie Black with 4 fish for 12lbs 8oz.

4. MARKLE (East Lothian)  It was a pretty quiet week but the catch and release anglers did well with Mr McKay from Dalkeith leading the field with 14 caught on the CDC. Tom Russell Snr. & Jnr. from Earlston shared 16 on a mixture of Buzzers and Dries, B Hunter, Edinburgh, 13 on Buzzers, B Ormiston, Edinburgh, 10 on Buzzers, John Daly, Edinburgh, 8 on a Pink Snake and Jim Mckenzie from Prestonpans used a Yellow Owl to bag 5.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The big fish were on the move this week with a superb 11lb 6oz specimen Rainbow being landed on Sunday morning. The biggest Blue of the year was also landed this week, 7lb 12oz, plus another couple of big Rainbows and a couple of cracking 5lb Tigers.   For much of the week, conditions were good but the fish are still a bit fussy and although anglers were getting offers, actually connecting with fish was sometimes a bit of a problem. Those doing best were those willing to chop and change as the sun came and went and the breeze moved from one direction to another. The fish were in the top three feet of the water and were often seen feeding on small black flies on the surface.Dry flies were working from time to time with best patterns being Yellow Owl, Hopper, Klinkhammer, Spider and CDC.When the fish were not feeding on the top the most successful patterns were Soldier Palmer, Black Pennell, Bibio, Damsel, Hare’s Ear, Buzzer, and Yellow Dancer
Jim Fitzsimmons, Larbert, 11lb 6oz Rainbow, Frank Barr, Falkirk, 5 for 17 including 8lb 6oz Rainbow, Kevin Gold, Stirling, 3 for 11lb 12oz including 7lb 12oz Blue, Danny Doherty, Denny, 4 for 13lb including 6lb 6oz Rainbow, Gregor McGregor, Falkirk, 5lb 8oz Tiger and Rab Bonar, Stirling, in two visits, 4 for 11lb including 5lb Tiger.
