Lake fishing report
www.menteith-fisheries.co.uk
Lake of Menteith
Report 12/04/16
6ft Water Temperature 7 C , Clarity (Secchi disc) 2.4m.
The fishing has been mainly concentrated on the eastern end of the lake, i.e. Hotel bay up to
Sam’s point, Shear point round to Katie’s Brae, Chicken leg point drifting out into the deeper
waters and the gap. In recent days Sandy Bay has received very good reports and with the
continuing easterly wind these drifts are also the most pleasant. Sand Martins back in force and
very busy over the waters of Hotel Bay – as I write this at 6pm on Tueday the 12thT. No need to
pull out your heavy lines use either a floating or slow sinking line using buzzers, spiders, dries or
nymphs. The removal of the max fly size rule has seen a few longer flies being thrown about –
with some success.
Tuesdays Notable catches include; The Mclarens with 24 fish rtd, Steven Bett and Pal 17 fish rtd,
Fire Service 12 boats 6 fish max per boat , caught 35 fish for 79lbs, Docherty and McLean 8 fish
for 17lbs 12oz. Paul Clarke from Glasgow captured this overwintered fish in Gateside Bay at the
weekend and Paul Barr snapped this chironomid on Sunday.
