Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday 18 April 2016. The report is for the week ending Sunday, 17 April 2016.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Just when it felt like spring was here this past week at Kingennie has been plagued with very cold strong winds and it has been bitterly cold at times. The fishing has still been very productive if you get a bit of shelter and take advantage of the early season activity. The osprey has been in every day over the last week sometimes twice getting his fish with minimum effort every time. The Boathouse has been the standout pool recently with some outstanding returns including some stunning blues and a few real big fish. The water has been really clear and the fish are responding really well to Buzzers. A Cat Bug or a wee Blob under the bung has also done really well when it’s not been so windy. Mr Leslie took advantage of the conditions and had over 20 fish on small Black Buzzers and Hare’s Ear Nymphs - biggest fish was around 12lb. Mr Watson had 16 in 4 hours on Buzzers and  Fab, Mr Simpson had 11 returned on a White Blob with the biggest one being quickly weighed at a fraction under 15lb. The Bankside has been fishing well this last week as well but as always it has been all about location and when you get on them it has been easy fishing. Again Buzzers have been very effective but there has been a lot of fish caught on lures mostly a Damsel or a Yellow Dancer. Mr Barlow had 20 in 3 hours on small Black Buzzers and Mr Soave had 4 for 10lb on a Green Lure then came back 2 days later and had 4 for 11lb. The Burnside has still been struggling a bit after a brown algae bloom but they are still catching fish as long as you can find what they want which has been tricky at times. A combination of Dries, Buzzers and Yellow Lures has done most of the damage recently. Mr Thompson had 11 on Black Buzzers including one of around 11lb, Mr Ker kept 2 for 8lb and put back 4 on a Damsel and Mr Birse had 5 on a Yellow Floating Fry. The Woodside has kept on producing good numbers of fish to all methods. The spinner has been best this past week with Powerbait a close second. Over the weekend there was a total of 31 rods landing a total of 52 fish for 98lb. The biggest was a 3lb 4oz rainbow taken on sweet corn by Mr Adams.

3. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco). It has been a quiet week with every day except Thursday having a cold wind but those who fished did well. 5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) There was excellent fishing all week as the long list of bags confirms!   The fish were moving all around the main pond following the wind so in different places on different days. They were in the top 3 feet and taking whatever small hatches are coming off the water at the moment. The cold on Sunday slowed things a little but there were still plenty fish caught with the small ponds being popular as they were a bit more sheltered. Dry flies including CDC and Spiders were taking a few fish along with the usual nymphs, wets and lures. Other favourite patterns included Cat’s Whisker, Damsel, Diawl Bach, Buzzer, Snatcher, Viva, Kate McLaren and Cormorant.   Some cracking Tigers and Rainbows in the 5lb and 6lb range were landed.
