Lake Fishing Report 20/10/15

Secchi Disk Clarity 1.85m 6ft water temperature 11.5C.

B8034 CLOSED THIS WEEK - 19TH TO 23RD OCTOBER (SHORE ROAD, ARNPRIOR TO THE PORT OF MENTEITH) SO GO VIA THORNHILL, CALLANDER OR ROB ROY BRAEVAL

Another great season is coming to an end at the Lake with only 11 days to go. We have been so lucky with the fine October weather.

The Young Anglers Club, the Cormorants, administered by their indefatigable Coach Alasdair Mair had their final outing for 2015.Displaying cormorants_w.jpg

Robert Fyfe (back row left with the cup) was club champ, whilst Cameron Smith (front right with the Tam Denholm Sheild) was best bag on the day with 6 fish in total. Best newcomer was Angus Robertson (front row left). Well done to Alasdair and all the other coaches who have helped during the year.

As fish feeding has almost stopped in the fish pens in Gateside the fish from the vicinity tend to move out more. Coach James Litster returns a cracker, closely observed by Oscar the Rainbow Hound. Displaying oscar.jpg

Fishing has been good over the past few days with the Butts to Lochend and out towards the middle doing well and also the dog isle and plantation drifts. Tactics have been dries (sedge floats well), to boobie to damsels- but generally not going deep – unless fishing the rope in Gateside Bay where an intermediate line can be used to good effect. The plan is to allow access to all of Gateside Bay from midday on Thursday. NOTABLE CATCHES On Monday 19th Fish Hawks had 55 with 8 boats, Jim Walker and Son had 12 all returned and David Murray from London returned 13 all on dries from the Butts area.
