5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The changeable weather during the week did not seem to disrupt the fishing and there was some great sport this week.   The torrential rain on Tuesday afternoon coloured the water and raised the level but it also seemed to chase the big Tigers out of the burn area.   The water soon cleared and the level dropped again and fishing conditions were excellent for the rest of the week.    Five big Tigers were landed, including a new record for the Fishery at 9lb 5oz.   They were taken in different locations round the pond including the island, dam and from the boat.   In general the fish are still in the top 2 to 3 feet of the water and are still looking for a fairly fast retrieve.   Many anglers are reporting losing fish or being broken by some of the big fish that have been seen cruising round the pond.   Dry flies were not so successful this week, with wets, nymphs and small lures fished just under the surface the best tactic.   Favourite patterns included Cat’s Whisker, Dancer, Damsel, Cormorant, Diawl Bach, Buzzer, Viva, Montana and Kate McLaren. The Fishery closing time is now 6.30pm
William Mair, Falkirk, 9lb 5oz Tiger – a new Fishery Record, Danny Doherty, Denny, 3 for 14lb 8oz including 8lb 15oz Tiger, Alex Knox, Glasgow, 8lb Tiger, James McMillan, Glasgow, 6lb 12oz Blue, Robert Smith, Falkirk, 3 for 10lb 8oz including 6lb 8oz Tiger and Ryan Jamieson, Denny, 5lb 8oz Tiger. Grandfather, Roy Hatchard, and grandson, Cameron Smith, Alloa, shared 6 for 18lb 6oz from the boat, with Cameron taking 5, Robert Anderson, Stoneyburn, 5 for 14lb 8oz, Barry Hamilton, Muirhead, 5 for 14lb 8oz and Jim Donnelly, Milton of Campsie, 4 for 13lb 12oz including 4lb 4oz Rainbow.
