Lake of Menteith 12th Aug 2014
6ft Water Temperature 17C, Clarity (Secchi disc) 1.7m.


With water temperatures still dropping the fish are moving into shallower waters now, Malling shore plantation and Sams point. Floating down to a fastglass line are doing well flies include Dries, boobies, fabs, snatchers, diawl bachs and buzzers
In Heat 14 of the Menteith boat league sponsored by James Bayne fishing tackle shop and Glen Garioch whisky, Keir Hardie (Pictured left) continued his amazing run of good results with another first place with fish taken mainly from the road shore towards the end of the evening. With only one more night to go Keir can’t be caught but 2nd and 3rd are still up for grabs. Alec Galloway was in second place with Alec Barnes finishing 3rd. Alec Galloway (Pictured right) took the sponsors heat prizes (Bottle of Glen Garioch Malt and a £25 voucher from Baynes Tackle in Callander). Full details are on the website.



It’s been a busy week with comp the Lake was one of the venues for the new 5 nations competition with teams from Scotland, England, Ireland, France and Belgium participating. England A came out top team with England B and Scotland A taking 2nd and 3rd. Top rod of the Comp was Englishman Robert Brown.
The Ladies had their national comp on Sunday with Anne Boyce came out top rod with 16 fish. She was fishing up at cages using a Midge tip line with a boobie and a couple of snatchers. 2nd was Jane Wright with 12 and Gail Annall was 3rd with 10.Marion Wallace had the best fish of the day weighing in at 5lb 15oz.
Calum Fraser organized a help for heroes competition run over a few day culminating on the final on Sunday, Top rod was Andy Everitt and top team was the Soldier palmers, well done to all those who took part to raise money for such a good cause.
