2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) It has been a week of near perfect fishing conditions at Forbes of Kingennie this week. It has been a bit hot through the day but the mornings and evenings have been fantastic when it cools down slightly and the fish have been right up on the surface taking dries on most of the ponds. The Bankside has been on great form this week with some anglers having outstanding results but some have struggled due to fish being quite localised in 3 noticeable shoals in the first bay and the dam wall. On Wednesday evening Mr Cowan put back 22 on a mixture of dries with the largest around 4lb. On Friday Mr Spotiswood returned 16 on a mix of dries and small nymphs with his largest around 6lb. The most impressive haul of fish was taken by Mr Birse on Saturday when he landed an unbelievable 45 fish on an Orange Sugercube Shipman’s Buzzer, however he would of swapped them all for one fish he lost in the morning that was estimated to “well over double figures” The Boathouse has held a bit of colour this week and has stopped it fishing to its full potential. There have still been a lot of fish on the surface so a floating line is all you need. Mall Damsels and Nymphs have been the way this week. Mr Bourne took a 7lb rainbow on a Cats Whisker which was his only take. Mr Nicolson had 3 fish for 10lb 4oz and put back another 5 on Diawl Bachs. The Burnside has been very busy this week and the anglers have taken advantage of the fish being high in the water with Dries, Buzzers and the washing line taking a lot of fish. Mr McCabe took a 9lb 8oz rainbow on a small black lure on a floating line. Mr Hamilton had 9 on a catch and release permit fishing Buzzers. The Woodside is still very clear and that has made it slightly tricky if you don’t scale down on you hook link and hook. As always at this time Powerbait has still been taking the most fish worms and spinners are taking fish but not as many as Powerbait. Mr Woods and his son took 4 fish for 8lb on Green Powerbait on a lead. Mr Harvey took 3fish for 5lb 9oz on sweet corn.
The first round of the Kingennie Summer League will take place on the Burnside and Boathouse this Saturday with the top 6 rods going into the final where there is a top prize of £250 CASH for more details please call the Fishing shop on 01382 350777/350213

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) the warm bright conditions are making the fishing quite tricky but those who have persisted have had good sport. Joe Beattie from Edinburgh took the honours last week for the heaviest fish with a rainbow of 12lbs that was taken on a Klinkhammer. Alan Lunardi from Wallyford had 6 on the Daddy, Bruce Hunter, Edinburgh, 13 on Buzzers, David Smith, Dunbar, 4 on a sinking Daddy and D Morin from North Berwick had 5 on Buzzers. 5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) This week saw some days with bright sunshine and some more overcast with heavy rain showers, leading to floating lines working best at times while intermediate was needed to entice the fish at other times. Throughout the week the fish have generally been in the main part of Swanswater, with many fish being caught between the boat jetty and the far bay at the start of the week and more slightly closer to the dam wall towards the end of the week, with the boats doing especially well. Predominantly the fish have been in the top two feet of the water, with some decent dry fly action at times, though on brighter days the fish have been slightly deeper with a medium to fast retrieve still having best results. There are still a good number of Tigers and Browns being taken along the full length of the burn.
Best results have been on mini lures such as Damsel, Cat and Cormorant. Kate McLaren, Bibio, Diawl Bach and Montana have all featured highly in the catch returns, with Hopper, Yellow Owl and Humpy being the best of the dry flies. Frank Barr, Falkirk, 9 for 27lb 12oz including 6 Blues on 2 visits, Brian Maskell, Oban, 5 for 20lb 8oz including a 5lb 8oz Rainbow and 2 Blues, Peter O’Brien, Camelon, 5 for 16lb 8oz including a Blue and a Tiger, Willie Martin, Stirling, 5 for 13lb 8oz including a Blue and Kevin Haughton, Stirling, 4 for 15lb. Dave McFadyen, Brucefields, 2 for 7lb 12oz including 4lb 8oz Blue, Billy Weir, Bannockburn, 2 for 7lb 8oz, Mike Barker, Stirling, 2 for 7lb including a Blue, Ian Whitfield, Denny, 2 for 7lb including a Blue and Willie Nyguist, Stirling, 2 for 7lb.
