2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The heat of the summer has really arrived at Forbes of Kingennie and there has been some great fly hatches in the evenings which has led to some good rises come late evening They have sometimes been a bit fussy when they are on the surface but it seems to be a case of either using a really big dry like a sedge or going very small. The osprey is continuing to visit regularly and take a fish with minimum effort often arriving very early in the morning. The clarity in the Boathouse turned a little dirty after the rain but the fish have still been getting caught. They are well spread out around the pond but the bottom end seems to be the favoured spot. Mr McCabe had returned 6 fish on Yellow Dancers, the largest around 5lb. Mr Barry took 2 fish for 6lb and put another 5 back. None of the big fish have been landed but there was a fish lost on Saturday that was reported to look like a really good fish. The Burnside has been the most consistent pond with a really good distribution of fish right through the pond so the catches have been really well spread amongst the anglers. Lures have taken a good share of the fish with Yellow Dancers being the top pattern by a long way. Buzzers fished very deep have been just as effective if you can find the right depth. Mr Watson returned 8 in a morning including a nice blue around 4lb. Mr Edward had a great evening returning 4 fish, the largest was estimated at around the 10lb mark which was taken on a Buzzer. The Bankside has been improving with some very respectable bags of fish being caught. Mr Gordon had an incredible session on Thursday after finding a big head of fish in the first bay he managed to return 30 fish with many taking a small black and green lure as well as some on the Buzzer. Mr Sherriff had a great weekend putting back 10 fish both days on a mixture of Nymphs and Buzzers. The Woodside has been very busy over the past week especially at the weekend. The water is very clear in there at the moment and small pieces of Powerbait have been the top method yet again. Over the weekend 47 anglers landed 81 fish for a weight of 128 lb
The first of 3 rounds of the Kingennie Summer League will take place on the Boathouse and Burnside on Saturday the 21st of June with the top 6 rods progressing to the final where there will be a top prize of £250. For more information please call the sports shop on 01382 350777.

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) It was an excellent week of fishing for the catch and release anglers with Colin Shillinglaw from Edinburgh taking 15 on a Black Dancer, Neil Keillor, Dunbar, 15 on a Diawl Bach, Joe Beattie, Edinburgh, 8 on the CDC and Neil Carey from Edinburgh had 7 on Buzzers. Craig Russell from Aberdeen took 6 on Buzzers, Bob Logan, Aberdeen, 6 on Buzzers and the Hoy & Hope AC from Newbiggin by the Sea had a good outing catching 27 fish weighing 68lbs with the best tipping the scales at 4lbs 8oz.

4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It was yet another week of mixed weather but when it has been good the fish have been moving freely on the top after the abundance of fly life on the water. A floating line with a wide variety of flies has been taking fish with anglers enjoying plenty of sport. On Tuesday the Perthshire Fishing Club had a lovely evening taking 18 fish for 41lbs 12oz. T. Brogan from Fisons caught 4 fish for 12lbs on a Light Bulb, Robert McKinnon, Dunblane, 4 for 12lbs 8oz on a Damsel, David Rutherford, Bo'ness, 2 for 11lbs on a Blob and Donald McDonald from Muthill had 1 fish for 4lbs on a Yellow Dancer. John Hutchison from Alloa took a brace for 7lbs on a Black Nymph, Stewart Terry, Perth, 3 for 8lbs 4oz on Buzzers, Ronnie Stanovich, Glasgow, 3 for 10lbs on a Black Nymph and Allan Stirling from Auchterarder used a Daddy to catch 3 fish for 7 lbs.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) There was some excellent fishing this week at Swanswater with good conditions all week.Despite the sometimes torrential rain towards the end of the week, the water remained relatively clear as any coloured water was cooler and sank. Most fish were taken in the top 2 feet of the water except on the very sunny days when they went a wee bit deeper. There are not so many fish on the surface as there were for a while so just under the surface is where the fish are feeding.Large numbers of Tigers and Browns are still featuring in the catch returns, with many of them being taken from the burn or burn mouth area. Many anglers are fishing small natural flies and are getting broken by the strong hard fighting fish.Favourite patterns this week included Hare’s Ear, Olive nymph, Bibio, Kate McLaren, Sedge, Diawl Bach and Damsel. The small ponds also continue to fish well with wet and dry flies the most successful there. The fish are still active and looking to chase so a moderate to fast retrieve is the best tactic.
Scott Mason and son, Jordan, Cumbernauld, shared 6 for 24lb 8oz including 6lb 5oz Rainbow, a Blue and 2 Tigers, Frank Barr, Falkirk, 5 for 16lb 8oz including a Tiger, Simon McNie and Michael Donaldson, Falkirk, shared 5 for 16lb from the boat including a Blue and a Brown and Danny Doherty, Denny, 5 for 14lb 12oz including 4lb 8oz Rainbow and 3 Blues. Aaron Kirkwood, Fallin, 4 Tigers for 11lb 4oz plus a further 5 on catch and release, Willie Martin, Stirling, 3 for 11lb 8oz including 5lb 4oz Blue, David Aitken, East Kilbride, 3 for 10lb 8oz including 4lb Blue and Kevin Haughton, Stirling, 3 for 10lb including 2 Blues and a Brown. 6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) On the fly fishing front the top taking flies last week included the Black Gnat, Orange Spider, Cat’s Whisker, Black Widow, Damsel Nymph and the Ally McCoist. Included amongst the top fly catches was Mr. Wright from Kilsyth with 3 for 8lbs 6oz – best 3lbs 8oz, Mr. Fisher, Glasgow, had a brace weighing 4lbs comprising a rainbow and a blue trout and R Barr from Kirkintilloch took one at 2lbs 5oz.
