Week one of the Lake boat league

The first event of the Lake of Menteith boat league sponsored by James Bayne fishing tackle took place last night.
There were 40+ entrants with 17 new participants (big welcome to the new comers, hope you have an enjoyable time, make many new friends, catch lots of fish and win one of the £25.00 gift vouchers available per week, plus a bottle of Whisky !) Plus there is a grand over all prize; last year £500.00 for 1st, 2nd £100.00 and some runner up prizes.
In 1st place was W. Ramage  with 15 fish, incredible, well done.
2nd was ..........Ken Oliver with only ...8 ! Good start Ken.
and 3rd was........P Clark  with 8.
There was a total of 101 fish caught.
I was fishing with my new friend Nicola, who unfortunately blanked,  I got one however if your going to catch one you might as well make it a good'n mine was 6lb 40z ! on a hot head dancer in loch end bay.
On the whole the weather was not to bad some squally showers but mostly dry for the evening. We began at 6pm and finished at 10pm, around 8.30 /9 pm the Lake came alive with fish porpoising on the surface, feeding on buzzers.
We saw the Ospreys and the swallows have arrived in numbers, it was wonderful to see them skimming along the surface of the water, the Lake is a really magical place of an evening.
