Lake fishing report
Lake of Menteith 29th April 2014
6ft Water Temperature 12C , Clarity (Secchi disc) 2.3m.
The
Lake is starting to stratify and clarify, as the water heats up. Top
tactics have been near the surface with floating lines and buzzers.
Straight lining buzzers appeared to be the key to the success of
Change AC in yesterday’s Police Tri match, and the hot spot
yesterday was the west end of Gateside Bay. The booby with buzzers
and sink/midge tip has also worked well. The fish are fairly well
spread out with good bags from the Heronry, Lochend and todd Hole and
Sam’s Point (as well as Gateside) in recent days.
In yesterday’s Tri, 20 boats caught 274
fish of which 75 were weighed in. The five teams comprised The
Police, Royal Navy and three local clubs; United Edinburgh, Change AC
(the “pro-ams”) and Gartmore. Pictured left is the Police and
some extras.
The
match was won “out the park” by Change AC with 16 fish for 35lbs
6oz weighed in and 99 rtd. In 2nd
place were United Edinburgh with a total of 56 fish, 3rd
were the Police with 45 fish, 4th
were Gartmore AC with 32 fish and in 5th
place were the Royal Navy with 26 fish. Below Left: Change AC enjoy
the after match High Tea.
The
Scottish Clubs Competition kicks off this weekend 3rd
May (see http://www.sanacc.org.uk/2014-2.html
for completing clubs).
