Saturday the 1st of February saw the opening of the rivers Teith and Fourth for salmon fishing. There was a pipe band procession down the main street in Callander from the square with all the fisher people to the meadows where Sir Ian Botham was invited do the honor of making a wee speech and toast the water before the fishermen and women were let loose.
There was a good turn out for the day 100 + folk, it was as dry as you could expect considering the appalling weather we've had over the last three months thought a tad chilly with a few squally showers we did quite well however the rain has brought the river up to a good height and within a few minutes somebody had a fish on the bank (even if it was a kelt).
I believe there were five fish caught, two clean and three kelts for the day !
As usual we will try and keep you posted of what's happening through out the year.
Tight lines everyone.
