Late report by Jim Boyd

ANGLING PRESS SERVICES

Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday 27 January 2014. The report is for the week ending Sunday, 26 January 2014.

LATE REPORT
Unfortunately Kingennie didn’t manage to avoid the rain last week and the dirty water has affected all the ponds but it hasn't put the anglers off and the fish are still being caught. Location is playing a huge part in catching at the moment, as you have to get the flies right in front of the fish for them to see it. Tactic wise it has been pretty much the same on all the pools. Lures of various colours but mostly black or orange fished on a sinking line has been the method in the turbid water.
On the
Boathouse Mr Walls took the biggest fish of the week with a 6lb 6oz rainbow as well as a 4lb 2oz blue trout on a Black and Gold Humungus and Mr Smart took 2 fish for 8lb 9oz on a Cat’s Whisker. The Burnside has fished very much the same way although it has paid to fish a bit deeper. Mr Watson returned 6 fish using various lures fished slowly. Mr Thompson 2 fish for 4lb and returned a further 3 on a nomad lure. The Bankside has been the quietest pond but those how have fished it have still had fish. Mr West took 3 fish for 7lb and returned another 4 on black and green lures after moving around a few times before he found them.
Powerbait really has been the best method on the
Woodside in the murky water. Mr Hogan took 2 fish for 3lb 8oz and Mr Hamilton who was fishing with his grandson managed there 4 fish for 7lb 4oz on Orange Powerbait fished under the float.
