5. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) The water has been fishing well with the fish taking at different levels on a wide variety of flies. Included in those doing well last week was Robert Young from Kilsyth with 3 for 9lbs 8oz on the Ally McCoist, D Hunter, Alloa, 2 for 6lbs on a Black Nymph, Jimmy Young, Alloa, 3 for 8lbs on a Black & Red Fritz, George McCluskey, Spittalfield, 2 for 4lbs 8oz on an Ally McCoist and Jim Nesmith from Spittalfield caught 3 fish weighing 8lbs on an Ally McCoist. 6. SWANSWATER (Stirling) It was a mixed week at Swanswater with a total of nearly 3 inches of rain falling in heavy bursts and leading to coloured water and poor conditions on some days. On the good days, Monday, Tuesday and Friday, the fishing was excellent but fishing was harder on the other days. Although the water is colouring quickly after heavy rain, it is also clearing very quickly and conditions soon go back to normal. The fish have been at various depths – midweek anglers were getting lots of offers around 6 feet down but at the weekend they were sitting 3 to 4 feet down. The island was a popular spot with plenty fish being taken in the channel, with the dam also being a bit of a hotspot some mornings. A wide variety of flies were catching with Dancer, Cat’s Whisker, Humungus, Cormorant, Diawl Bach, Bibio, Montana and Buzzer all successful patterns.
