Another blustery week with snow on the hills saw the anglers more often seeking shelter
first and fish second – never ideal! The most popular tactic continued to be a sink tip line
or slow glass with a booby on the point and diawl bachs, buzzers or cormorants higher
up. More recently anglers have opted for a couple of dries with a buzzer in between with
some notable success. Best areas have varied from all over including Hotel Bay (in the
calmer weather) to the shelter of Lochend, Butts and Gateside in the wilder moments.
Congratulations to new Disabled National Champion Jim Curry from Irvine (pictured
left). 37 anglers took part in the National Final at Lake of Menteith on Sunday 12th May
and landed 124 fish, returning 47 of these. The fishing was sponsored by the Lake of
Menteith Fisheries. The top seven rods plus 1 reserve will represent SDFFA Team
Scotland at Eyebrook in England in 2014. The full team in order are Jim Curry (12 fish),
Wullie Brash (8), Fraser Renwick(8), Tom Ward(8), Wullie Fulton(7), Bill Barnes(5)
