Lake of Menteith 30th October

6ft Water Temperature 7.0C, Clarity (Secchi disc) 2.3m .

We ended up stocking around 950 3lb fish in the last full week of
fishing at the Lake and we will see how the remaining 350 do in the
pens with regard to cormorant attack and release if need be. It has
been a great end to the season from a stocking and fish quality point of
view and bodes well for overwintered fish in the spring. Work on the
hut extension is starting and there are a lot of stats to collate for the
year as well as preparing for the Kirk and School Day. More on these
next week. Areas reported fishing have been just about anywhere.
Lochend, Gatside, shear Point, Hotel Bay, Reedy Point and the
Heronry have all see n good catches.

2012 Scottish Youth Champion

The Scottish Youth Fly Fishing Championship was held last weekend
at the Lake and the new Youth Champ is James Hek from Troon.
James came out top on points over the two days and was fishing a sink
tip, candy booby and black and gold diawl bach. In second place was
Calum Tait and third placed was Calum Hardie. On Sunday James
Fairlie was top bag with 13 fish but was 6th over all in the
championship. James Fairlie and Calum Hardie will be too old to fish
for the team in Wales next year. The 15 young anglers making up the
squad will be James Hek, Calum Tait,
Jack Hamilton, Angus Barbour,
Michael Craig, Calum Robertson,
Kennedy, Jamie Carruther (sp),
Middleton, Calum Clarke, Sean
Robbie Gibson. The rod average for
Sunday 2 (fishing time on Sunday

Jamie Sutherland, Andrew
Calum Steven, Jack
Queen, Martin Runcie and
Saturday was 4.2 and
was half that of Saturday).

Euan Miller was out with
pike last week and landed
look of this fine rainbow

Dougie Loughridge fly fishing for
this beauty. Billy Foster liked the
