Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday 04 February
2013.The following reports is for the week ending Sunday, 03 February 2103.
1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) NOW CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 2013
2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) It has been a cold wintery week here
at Forbes of Kingennie but those anglers willing to brave the weather have had some
great returns. Some anglers have struggled on the Bankside but others anglers who
crack the method have been rewarded with some incredible numbers of fish. Once
again young Robert Gibson has shown everyone how to do it taking a staggering 21
fish on the Diawl Bach and Fabs on the washing line whilst fishing in the first bay on
Saturday. Mr Barlow used the same method to great effect on Monday taking 14 fish
in 3 hours taking fish from all over the pond but most fish do seem to be shoaled up
in the first bay still. The Boathouse has been fishing really well now that the water is
clearing and the anglers at the weekend took full advantage with only one angler not
taking a fish. The biggest bag was taken by Mr Ross with 2 fish for 14lb 3oz as well
as the biggest fish of the week – an 8lb 9oz rainbow - both were taken on an Orange
Fritz. Mr Seath took 2 fish for 13lb 13oz taken on a Yellow Nomad. Mr William’s day
improved greatly after only taking 1 fish on the Bankside he upgraded his ticket and
went on the boathouse and took 2 fish for 12lb 1oz very quickly on a Black Lure. The
Burnside is still holding quite a lot of dirty water after all the snow melt but there are
still fish to be had. Intermediate lines and lures have been the method. Again the
fish do seem to be shoaled up but if you can find them some good numbers of fish
have been caught. Mr Munro took 4 fish for 7lb and returned another 7 on a Black
and Green Fritz fishing next to the barrels. The Woodside was busy at the weekend
with some nice fish being caught. Mr Cumming and his son took 4 fish for 7lb 5oz on
ledgered Powerbait and Mr Fotheringham took 3 fish for 5lb 7oz on Powerbait fished
under a bubble float.
3. MARKLE (East Lothian) It was a very quiet week due to the awful weather
conditions but well done to Neil Keillor from Dunbar who visited the fishery no fewer
than three times last week and ended up with 34 fish on a catch and release ticket
– various lures accounted for this fine tally. Also doing well was Tommy Dickson
from Dunbar with 9 on the Bloodworm, Eddie Peden, Winton, took 6 on Daddies
and Buzzers, R P Bain, Edinburgh, took 13 on the Black & Green Fritz and Stevie
Whitelaw from Mayfield had 7 on lures. The Fundraiser held to help the Scottish
Fly Fishing Team attracted 56 anglers who landed an incredible 295 fish but more
importantly raised a whopping £2,500.
4. MORTON LOCH (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
5. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) Owner, Elizabeth Jackson echoes the sentiments
of most anglers by opening her report with the words ‘’ It would be just great if
we could have a few months of lovely sunny dry days like Saturday was - it just
makes everyone feel better. Hear, hear to that!!
