Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday, 28 November
2011.The following report is for the week ending Sunday, 21 November 2011.
1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) NOW CLOSED UNTIL SPRING 2012
2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
3. MARKLE FISHERY (East Lothian) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
4. HOLL FISHERY NO REPORT THIS WEEK.
5. MORTON FISHERY (Livingston) It has been another great week at the Morton
fishery with some excellent catches going into the record books. Ian Dobbie from
Falkirk had 10 on C+R including specimens of 13lbs 8oz and 10lbs, Bill Adair,
Millhall, had one at 11lbs on a Zonker, Mr. McLean took 4 for 14lbs 8oz and returned
a further 4 on a Black & Green lure and Messrs Dodds and Moffat, fishing from a
boat, used Bloodworm to share 8 for 28lbs 2oz – best 8lbs. S Penny took a cracker
of 13lbs 8oz on a Yellow Dancer, A Mitchell, 2 for 12lbs 8oz on a Yellow Dancer, B
Hunter, 4 for 19lbs 8oz – best 11lbs 8oz on a Black Damsel, J Bryce, 4 for 13lbs 4oz
and A Herbert 4 for 24lbs on an Olive Bunny – best fish a 10lb 12oz specimen that
was safely returned.
ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It has been another week of very mixed weather with the
worst of the weather last week-end. There has been a very wide variety of flies
taking fish mainly in the top three feet and with the changeable weather anglers just
have to adjust to the conditions.
Last Sunday Jock's Bottle Day was fished a month earlier to beat the snow with 50
fish being caught for 112lbs 4oz - Willie Goldie took the heaviest bag with 5 fish for
11 lbs., and everyone went home with a bottle of alcohol of some kind.
Iain & Tito Illidge from Dubai had 6 fish weighing 13lbs on a PTN, Gordon
Galletly,
Mitchell,
5 for 12lbs 12oz on various Fritz patterns and Eddie McKeown, Kirkintilloch, 3 for
8lbs on a Damsel. John Gavin from Perth had 3 fish for 9lbs – best 6lbs on a Black
& Green Fritz, William Alexander, Menstrie, 3 for 8lbs 8oz on a Purple & Yellow,
Andy Templeman,
Gilchrist,
7. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) NEXT REPORT SPRING 2012
8. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The good weather early in the week led to some
excellent fishing, although the heavy rain and strong winds at the end of the week
meant things were a lot more difficult. Although the water was very high and
coloured on Saturday and Sunday the level has dropped and, at the time of writing,
is almost back to full clarity. There is still a good mix of varieties coming out including
several lovely Tigers, with many anglers already having worked out what they are
looking for and how to present it. This week’s favourite flies included the usual lures,
with some nymphs and a few wets still catching. Best patterns were Cat’s Whisker,
Dancer, Fritz variants, Blob, Damsel, PTN, Buzzer and Kate McLaren.
Stirling, 5 for 10lbs 8oz on a Diawl Bach & Damsel, Sandy
Polmont, 4 for 9lbs 12oz on Buzzers, Hugh Bratchie, Lochgelly,
Blair Atholl, 3 for 13lbs 12oz on a Yellow Dancer and John
Stirling, 3 for 10lbs on a Black Fritz.
George Novell, London, 3 for 12lb 8oz including 5lb Rainbow and a Blue, Willie
Keenan, Cowdenbeath, 4 for 12lb 12oz including 4lb 12oz Blue and a Tiger, Stuart
Nicholson, Knightswood, 5 for 15lb 12oz, Grant Barr, Wishaw, 5 for 15lb 4oz
including 2 Blues, bigger one at 4lb 2oz and Archie Smith, Greenock, 5 for 14lb 12oz
including 2 Blues and a Tiger. Eddie Scanlon, Glasgow, 5 for 14lb 8oz including 2
Blues, Bill Storie, Polmont, 4 for 13lb including a Tiger, Alec Knox, Glasgow, 4 for
12lb 8oz including a Blue, Paul Murphy, Cowdenbeath, 3 for 10lb 12oz Stuart Neil,
Greenock, 3 for 10lb 8oz including a Blue and David Cairney, Lennoxtown, 3 for
10lb. Davy Horne, Stirling, 3 for 8lb 8oz including a Blue and a Tiger, Alex Drain,
Balloch, 3 for 8lb 8oz including a Tiger, Jim Donnelly, Tullibody, 3 for 8lb including
2 Tigers, Cha Cairns, Greenock, 3 for 7lb 12oz including a Blue and 2 Tigers
and Stuart Henderson, Dunfermline, 2 for 8lb. Jim Marshall, Stirling, 2 for 6lb 4oz
including a Blue
9. LOCH VENACHAR (Trossachs) There is very little to report this week from what
is fast becoming one of Scotland’s most prolific pike waters due to the absolutely
horrendous weather that even managed to sink a boat in the harbour. The bank
fishing hasn’t been helped either with the water level being a bit silly as well. The
only two fish that were known to be caught were taken at a mark at the first car park
- one at ten pounds and the other at two and a half pounds both taken on mackerel
dead bait. Dead bait packs are now for sale at the Boathouse.
