Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday, 21 November
2011.The following report is for the week ending Sunday, 20 November 2011.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) NOW CLOSED UNTIL SPRING 2012

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Last week the fishing at Kingennie

was fantastic with all ponds fishing really well and throwing up the odd surprise. The

Boathouse Pond has had clear water for most of the week which meant anglers

could see the fish taking or refusing flies. The most productive flies have been lures

and blobs with the odd fish coming off to buzzers.

On the Burnside Pool anglers have been kept very busy with nearly all going home

with bag limits some anglers have had up to 20+ fish for their days fishing. George

Birse topped the catch table this week with 23 fish in 8 hours, Boab Miller had the

fish of the week on Burnside catching and returning a fine brownie of 8lbs 8oz. He

had seen the fish early in the week but had no luck in fooling it so he returned later in

the week and within a few cast the fish was on the bank.

The Bankside Pool has fished well but anglers have had to refine their tactics with

small flies and light leader being the most productive approach, Bruce Martin had

the fish of the week with a fine rainbow of 7lb he caught using a size 18 Black Spider

fished on 3lb leader in flat calm water. Fish are also hitting the fry at times and can

be quite a sight to see the large bow waves as fish tear around the bays after small

roach and perch.

The Woodside Pool continues to fish well with bag limits being had with not too

much effort spinning with small Mepps has been the killer method but power bait

either popped up off the bottom or fished deep on a float has also worked really well.

3. MARKLE FISHERY (East Lothian) It was a very quiet week with few anglers

turning up – something to do with the approach of Christmas! Tommy Dickson from

Dunbar had a tremendous fish of 18lbs 4oz on a Humungus, Jim McKenzie, Preston

Pans, took one at 12lbs on a WSW and John Stevenson, (East Linton9 used a Black

& Green Lure to catch a rainbow of 10lbs 8oz. S McLintock from Shotts had 3 for

9lbs 8oz on a Bloodworm and Jim Skilling, Shotts, managed 3 for 10lbs 8oz on an

Olive Lure.

4. HOLL FISHERY NO REPORT THIS WEEK.

5. MORTON FISHERY (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

6. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) The fishing has been very changeable with every colour

and kind of flies catching with some days no two anglers catching on the same fly.

We will just put it down to the weather and are hoping we can fish longer this year

than in the last two.

Greg Scotland (Jnr) from Greenock caught 3 fish for 10lbs 8oz on his own version of

the Super Bug, Craig McEwan, Clackmannan, 3 for 8lbs on a Cat, Darwin Douglas,

Dollar, 2 for 5lbs on an Orange Blob, Scott Smith, Kinross, 4 for 10lbs 2oz on a

Scott’s Dancer and John Gavin, Perth, 3 for 8lbs on an Orange Fritz. Neil Bruce

from Falkirk took 4 fish for 10lbs on a Cat, H Sommerville, Larbert, 4 for 9lbs 4oz on

a Damsel, Jack Gibb, Clackmannan, 4 for 9lbs 4oz on a Damsel and Willie Martin

from Stirling used a White Fritz to take 5 fish weighing 14lbs. Jim Prentice from

Tullibody had 4 fish for 10lbs on a Black & Red Fritz, Hugh Bratchie, Lochgelly, 5 for

12lbs 120z on a Black & Green Fritz, Andy Templeman, Blair Atholl, 3 fish for 11lbs

40s on a PTN and a Viva.

7. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) NEXT REPORT SPRING 2012

8. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The fishing at Swanswater was excellent most of the

week with only a couple of days when things were a little bit harder.

Trout are being landed and although they are taking much the same flies as the

Rainbows and Blues, it appears to be the way the fly is presented and retrieved that

attracts these lovely fish as many who caught one, caught two or three. In general

they seem to be looking for a faster retrieve than other varieties and the fly needs

to stay in the water right to the edge as many have been hooked near to the bank.

Most fish were being taken around 3 to 4 feet down this week on small lures such

as Damsel, Dancer, Fritz, Viva, and Cat’s Whisker, or on Buzzers and Bloodworm,

although some wet flies including Butcher, Soldier Palmer and Bibio still figure when

the conditions were right.

caught in shallower water including the area behind the islands and the channel in

front of the main island. Fishery opening hours are now 8.00am to 4.30pm

and Matthew Fulton, Greenock, 2 for 7lb including a Blue.

9. LOCH VENACHAR (Trossachs) It was busy last week with all the boats out on

Saturday and the banks were busy as well with lots of great fish being caught. Dave

Morris caught a 20lb 12oz pike on a small trout bait from a boat and Dave Towle

caught two from a boat with them weighing in at 17lb and 12lb. Other smaller fish

were also caught from boats. The usual jacks were caught from the banks but the

seven boys from Bellshill fishing the second car park caught a beauty of with an

estimated weight between sixteen and eighteen pounds. The good news is that all

the fish were returned unharmed to the water to be caught another day. Progress is

being made with the boat house renovations and the guys seem to be enjoying the

rolls, soup, snacks and hot drinks that are now available and remember that Roger

and John are happy to be up there early to get your boats out so you can make the

best of the day.
