Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday, 14 November
2011.The following report is for the week ending Sunday, 13 November 2011.
1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) NOW CLOSED UNTIL SPRING 2012
2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The fishing last week at Forbes of
Kingennie was been very good with some great catches being recorded from all the
ponds with the Bankside being particularly productive. The heavy rain has caused
some water clarity problems in the Burnside and the Boathouse but it is clearing well.
The top method in the Boathouse this past week has been an intermediate line
teamed up with a lure; there has been no killer fly but most lures such as the Hot
Head Damsels, Black and Green Fritz and the Apps Bloodworm are all working well.
The biggest fish of the week was an 8lb 11oz rainbow taken by Mr Whyte on a White
and Green Nomad.
The Burnside has continued to produce lots of fish with lots of fish over the 2lb
mark. An intermediate line with Black and Green lures, Orange Blobs and Yellow
Dancers have taken lots of fish. A small Blob and a Bloodworm fished under the
bung has also been very popular. Young Robert Hughes had a great session
releasing 10 fish and keeping 2 for 6lbs and 1 at 4lbs 4oz all taken on lures.
The Woodside is still fishing very well with the odd bigger fish up to 4lbs still being
caught. The best method of late has been Powerbait in either green or orange. The
best bag this week was taken by lodge guest Mr Smart with 4 for 10lbs.
The Bankside has really been on good form with lots of fish getting caught on a
number of methods. When the weather has been warm they have been on the
surface with Buzzers fished on a washing line and even Dries have taken fish. The
Hot Head Damsel has continued to catch lots of fish as well. Season ticket holder Ian
Barlow had a very successful taking 36 fish in two short days fishing.
3. HOLL (near Kinross) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

Peter Ash, Edinburgh, one at 8lbs on a Yellow Dancer and Tam Size, Edinburgh, 1

9. LOCH VENACHAR (Trossachs) The fishing at Loch Venachar is now being run
by John Murdoch and Rodger Mitchell who both have considerable experience of
this famous fishery. The guys have some exciting plans in hand and already the
anglers are enjoying the hot drinks, rolls and snacks that are now available at the
Boathouse. Also, if anglers give prior notice they will make boats available at 7am so
they can get a full days fishing in before it gets dark.
At present the water level is still high but has dropped by about three feet from last
week and the loch has been nice and calm every day. It has been a relatively quiet
week for fish being caught although plenty of jack pike, weighing between three and
five pounds, are being caught mainly on herring, sprat, smelt dead bait and mackerel
tail. The two best fish have been a nine pounder caught on the fly from the boat and
a cracker of 26lbs 3oz caught on mackerel tail by Kevin Clarke from Cumbernauld.
This fine specimen was photographed and returned to the water unharmed.
