The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 14 August 2011.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) John Philliban from Stenhousemuir kept 5 fish weighing

18lb 8oz – heaviest 5lb 12oz, Davie Wood (Linlithgow) had 10 for 28lb 12oz, Steve

Johnston (Scone) took 3 fish for 12lb 8oz and Mark Gray (Scone) caught 3 fish

weighing 6lb. Bob Dick & Geoff Hemmings from Kinross had 5 fish weighing 13lb

8oz and Colin Shepherd (Dundee) took 5 fish for 15lb 8oz.

On the club front Methil A/C kept 3 fish weighing 15lb – heaviest 7lb, Brax A/C took

7 fish for 21lb 5oz, Leslie & Glenrothes A/C took 24 fish weighing 58lb 10oz and

Edinburgh Civil Service A/C kept 13 fish weighing 34lb 14oz. Vesuvius A/C managed

9 fish weighing 27lb 4oz and Perthshire FFC kept 2 fish weighing 6lb 8oz.

The best taking flies and lures have been the Olive Damsel, Cased Caddis, Heather

Fly, Kate McLaren and various Hoppers whilst all areas of the loch continue to fish

well.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Last week the fishing at Forbes of

Kingennie has been on great form after all the heavy rain and flooding the ponds

have dropped and cleared well and the fish are really responding well with the

Boathouse and Bankside fishing extremely well. We are still offering deals on the

bankside throughout August with 4 hours C+R for £5, 8 hours C+R for £8, 4 hours 2

fish £10 and 8 hours 4 fish £15

The Boathouse has cleared nicely and lots of fish have been coming out to lures

such as the Hotty Damsel and Montana. The best fish this week was an 8lb 14oz

rainbow caught by Liam Kirk on a Yellow Dancer and the best bag went to Gordon

Smith with 4 rainbows for 24lb all caught on Buzzers.

The Burnside has taken slightly longer to clear but has started to come good

with lots of fish being caught on small Dries and Buzzers. The best fish taken last

week was a fin perfect brown trout of 8lb 5oz taken on a DI 7 and a Black and Gold

Humongous by Steve Jones.

The Bankside has been on fantastic form with lots coming out to small lures, but

dries have been the top method by far. Small Shuttlecocks and Sedgehogs have

been the favourite. The best fish this week was a rainbow estimated between 13 and

15lb caught by Mr Johnson on a Black and Green Fritz on a floating line and even

more remarkable was that it was the first fish he had ever caught out the pond.

The Woodside bait pond has been fairly steady with some people struggling and

some bagging up quickly. The top bait has been worms with Powerbait a close

second. The biggest fish out this week was caught by Scott miller with a 3lb 4oz

rainbow on a small Mepp.

3. HOLL (near Kinross) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

4. MARKLE (East Lothian) Despite the extremely wet weather the guys who

managed to brave the elements did return some pretty good catches. Kylie Smith

from Dunbar used a Sedge to bag a 10lb rainbow, Jackie Hay, Haddington, took

one at 10lbs on a Buzzer, Bruce Hunter, Edinburgh, had a brace weighing 19lbs 8oz

– best 10lbs on a Black Lure and Mr McInnes (Edinburgh, caught 3 for 14lbs also

on a Black Lure. David Mornin from North Berwick took one at 9lbs 8oz on a Green

Hopper, B Foyle, Durham, had one at 10lbs 8oz on a CDC and Tommy Dickson,

Dunbar, used a Humpy to bag one at 7lbs 8oz.F

5. MORTON FISHERY (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

6. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) With all the rain last week the water has cooled down a

few degrees and the fish have been taking about a foot down as well as on the top at

times. Again a wide variety of flies have been used resulting in plenty of good sport.

Last Sunday during very wet conditions the 7 rods from the Riverside Club caught 24

fish for 67lbs 8oz with John Scullion taking the heaviest basket with 5 fish for 14lbs

on an egg fly.

Also doing well was Wendy Mitchell & Wilson from who shared 6 fish for 18lbs 2oz

on Buzzers, Graham King, Almondbank, 3 for 10lbs on a Bibio, Fay McLeod, Perth,

3 for 8lbs on a Kate McLaren, Kenny McLeod, Perth, 3 for 9lbs on a Yellow Dancer

and Alistair Brown, Stonehaven, 3 fish weighing 11lbs on a Bob’s Bits. Robert

Waddell from Houston caught 3 fish for 8lbs 8oz on a Green & Black, Dave Mitchell,

Edinburgh, 4 for 10lbs on a Hopper, Jessica M-A, Doncaster, had a brace weighing

5lbs and John Gavin, Perth, 3 for 13lbs – best a 5lb 12oz brown trout on a Brown

Fritz. Robert Kettles from Perth used a Damsel to take 3 for 8lbs 8oz, Brian Scott,

Glasgow, 3 for 8lbs 8oz on a CDC and Ian Millet, Tullibody, 4 fish weighing 12lbs on

a Diawl Bach.

7. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

8. SWANSWATER (Stirling) With 2.5 inches of rain falling in 2 days midweek,

Nicolson and son Jamie, Carron, shared 4 for 13lb 12oz from the small ponds

including 7lb 6oz Rainbow and Gary Waugh, Cumbernauld, 3 for 12lb 4oz including

6lb 12oz Blue. Sean Hill, Alloa, 2 for 8lb 10oz from the Meadow Pond, including 6lb

10oz Blue, plus 4 returned, Kenny Halley, Cambusbarron, 2 for 7lb 12oz including

5lb 8oz Blue from the Meadow Pond and a Brown, 10 year old Cameron Smith,

Alloa, fishing with the Swanswater Cygnets, 4lb 8oz Rainbow from the Millpond and

Frank Turner, Alloa, 4 for 12lb 8oz including 2 Blues. Willie Martin, Stirling, 4 for 12lb

including 3 Blues, Jim Ovens, Windygates, 4 for 11lb 8oz including 4lb Blue, Tom

Conway, Glasgow, 4 for 11lb 2oz and Ian Law, Glasgow, 3 for 10lb 8oz including

a Brown and a Blue. Cha Cairns, Greenock, 3 for 8lb 12oz including a Blue, Stuart

Nicholson, Yoker, 8 for 20lb, on two tickets from the boat, A Kennedy, Glasgow, 2

for 6lb 8oz including a Blue, Jim Donnelly, Milton of Campsie, 2 for 5lb 8oz including

a Brown and Danny Doherty, Denny, 2 Blues for 6lb 4oz. Last but not least Dennis

Raynor, Stirling kept a couple weighing 6lb from the Millpond and returned a further

9. LOCH VENACHAR (Trossachs) The big news from the loch last week was the

capture of a magnificent 35lb 7oz pike by Stuart Greig from Dunfermline who was

fishing at the mark near the old boathouse.

Anderson from Glasgow who had a 14lb pike on trout bait, David Dempsey (Airdrie)

16lb - mackerel, Colin Sandles (Partick) 8lb - smelt, Callum Allen (Wishaw) 17lb

9oz – lamprey and Brian McCourt (Glasgow) 10lb on smelt. Michael Weatheritt from

Alnwick took 4 brown trout averaging 1lb 8oz and three just over the pound mark

whilst spinning, Jenny Carter (Lymm) 8lb 8oz - lure, Sean Anderson (Glenrothes)

18lb - sardine, Piotr, Michael and

weighing 20lb 2oz, 11lb, 10lb, 9lb & 6lb on lures and James McNeill (Easterhouse)

18lb 6oz – mackerel. Brian Alexander from Glasgow had specimens of 15lb 1oz,

14lb, 14lb, Mark McGowan (Carluke) 20lb 3oz - perch, Mr Bell (Kirkintilloch) 14lb –

lamprey and Mr Morrison (Glasgow) 15lb 8oz on mackerel tail.
