The best flies and lures have been the Daddy Longlegs, CDC Hoppers, GRHE,

Hot Head Damsel and Cormorants and at present most areas of the fishery are

performing well.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The fishing at Kingennie last week

has not been the easiest, with a large amount of natural food around for the trout to

feed on. However, some very good returns have been witnessed with several large

fish falling to small flies. There has been a large range of diversity in the successful

patterns from small nymphs and CDCs to large Gold Head Damsels.

On Woodside Pond the most successful methods have again been Powerbait

and maggots. The Osprey has visited the resort on several occasions and has

entertained us with its superb fishing skills.

The best return from the Boathouse was by Mr Miller who had two fish totalling

11lbs. Mr Stonebank took a nice rainbow trout of 5lbs 8oz on a Pheasant Tail

Nymph. Other successful patterns were the Yellow Dancer and the Gold Head

Damsel.

During late afternoon & evening there have been large numbers of fish rising on the

Burnside many of which have fallen to Buzzers. Mr Hughes took five fish for 8lbs.

A very large trout has again made its presence felt in this pond, escaping after an

exhilarating battle.

On the Bankside Mr Price had great success on various patterns with 15 fish

returned under the catch and release system. Mr Kirk also did well returning 14. Dry

flies accounted for most of the fish with CDCs and Shuttlecocks being prominent.

Fishing on the all method pond Woodside was somewhat unpredictable although

some decent returns were made with a number of bigger fish taken on spinners. A

couple of blue trout were caught in this pond during the week.

6. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It has been another very good fishing week with plenty

of fish being caught and lots of good sport being enjoyed by anglers. The fish are

taking dry flies on the top or just under the surface and with an abundance of natural

food available in the water they can be quite fussy at times.

On Sunday Fisons FFC from Bo'ness had a good day taking 29 fish for 82lbs

with D. Donaldson taking the heaviest basket with 5 fish for 15lbs on a Viva. The

Swanswater Cygnets lost more fish than they caught with A Hutton catching the

Klinkhammer Hopper and Bert Hancock, Lochgelly, 4 for 13lbs on a Yellow Dancer.

took 3 for 8lbs on a Black Pennell and David Doig, Tillicoultry, 4 fish for 11lbs on a

Dry Hare’s Ear.

7. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) The coarse fishing has been excellent

on both waters with the warmer weather just now helping things along nicely. On

Sunday the sweep on the Snake was won by Paul Joyce from Kirkintilloch who had a

very good catch of 86 lbs.

8. SWANSWATER (Stirling) Conditions at Swanswater continue to improve and the

water is now beautifully clear.

temperature is now lower and the fish are much more active especially during

the day. The fishing is typical for the time of year – plenty of fish being seen, but

sometimes a little fussy in what they are actually taking.

lines fished with nymphs or small lures are now doing well, although wet and dry

flies are also still taking fish, particularly on the small ponds and when there is little

or no breeze.

Kate McLaren, Buzzer, Dancer, Snatcher, Muddler, mini-Cat and small Green Fritz.

Young anglers continue to do well at the Fishery. The biggest fish this week, landed
