Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday, 27 June 2011
The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 26 June 2011.

1. BUTTERSTONE (Dunkeld) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

2. FRANDY (Gleneagles) On the individual front Tom Buchanan from Glasgow kept

7 fish weighing 12lb, Bob Dick (Kinross) 3 for 7lb 8oz, George Keith (Dunfermline)

6 fish weighing 18lb 8oz, John Hamilton (Wishaw) 5 for 11lb 8oz and Colin Brown

(Sauchie) kept 5 fish weighing 14lb 4oz. John Murray (Sauchie) had 5 fish or 11lb

8oz and John Philliban (Stenhousemuir) kept 3 fish weighing 7lb 8oz.

Again lots of clubs visited including the Falkirk Municipal A/C who kept 25 fish

weighing 65lb, Aberdour A/C 15 fish for 37lb 8oz, Lothian & Borders Police A/C 11

fish weighing 30lb 14oz and Leslie Llanilar A/C caught 6 fish for 17lb 10oz. Seafield

A/C kept 11 fish weighing 23lb 8oz, Tillicoultry A/C 19 fish for 48lb 8oz, Perth Ex-

Servicemen’s A/C 11 fish weighing 28lb 8oz – heaviest 5lb, Tullibole A/C 13 for 34lb

8oz and Clatto & Stratheden A/C kept 5 fish weighing 14lb.

The best flies have proved to be the Kate McLaren, Emergers, Black Spiders, Sedge

Muddlers and the Sedgehog and again all areas of the loch are fishing well.

3. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The fishing last week at Forbes of

Kingennie has been very good despite the changeable weather. After all the heavy

rain from last week the ponds have cleared nicely and all the fresh water is doing

the fishing the world of good. The Bankside has been the most consistent pond with

most anglers coming off with fish. The Boathouse has been trickier with fish wising

up to lures very quickly the natural approach has been the best tactic.

The top method on the Bankside this week has been to fish the dry fly. Small

Shuttlecocks and F Flies have been very effective. For those wanting to fish lures the

top fly has been a small White Muddler or a Cat’s Whisker. The biggest fish of the

week was taken by Mr Crooks on Friday night with a rainbow of 10lb 8oz on a Cat’s

Whisker and this helped make the best bag of the week with 4 for 16lbs.

The Boathouse has fished well with fish of up to 9lb being caught with the average

being around 5lb. The top method has been small Damsels and Vivas fished on a

clear glass line with Buzzers taking several fish as well. The best bag of the week

went to Mr Mitchell with 4 rainbows for 27lb taken on Buzzers.

The Burnside has continued to fish well with bags of up to 20 a session being

caught. Most methods have been taking fish including lures and Buzzers but dry fly

has been the most effective method when the fish are on the surface. The top bag

this week went to Mr Whiteford with 4 for 8lb with 21 released and most of the fish

fell to Dries and Buzzers.

The water level on the Woodside is back to full height and the fishing has been

steady with most fish coming to Powerbait or the worm. The spinner and corn

continue to take plenty fish also. The biggest fish went to Mr Wishart with a rainbow

of 3lb 12oz caught on a spinner.

4. HOLL (near Kinross) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

5. MARKLE (East Lothian) There were some great catches off last week with

Tommy Dickson from Dunbar doing especially well on his two visits. On the first he

used a CDC to take a cracking rainbow of 14lbs and on day two he had an 18lb 9oz

rainbow that proved fish of the week and a great 10lb 8oz brown trout – the fish were

taken on a Kate McLaren and a Cormorant. Mark Anderson from Edinburgh had 15

on a C+R ticket on Nymphs and Blobs, G Russell, Edinburgh one at 10lbs 8oz on a

Cormorant, Jim Skilling, Shotts, 3 for 19lbs – best 10lbs on a Damsel and Michael

Cuthbert, Livingston, used a Bloodworm to take a rainbow of 15lbs. Stewart Fairbairn

from Longniddry and 11 on C+R using a Claret Hopper.

6. MORTON FISHERY (Livingston) This fishery is now open with 6 boats and bank

fishing available. More details on this exciting venue will be given in next week’s

edition. The manager is John MacKay and the telephone number is 07592 577652.

7. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) Again it was a week of very mixed weather but at least it

has been a lot warmer which helps bring out more life on the water. Dries, Buzzers,

Black Pennell, Bloodworm, Damsel and various lures have all been doing well but

the best sport is with the dries on the top with lots of fish just looking and touching

which is good fun.

On Sunday 4 Swanswater Cygnets (junior anglers) were fishing in the heavy

showers but despite this they managed to catch 7 fish for 17lbs 12oz with Thomas

Penman taking the heaviest bag with 3 fish for 8lbs and William Addison had 3 fish

for 7lbs 8oz. The heaviest fish this week was caught by Hector Wilson, Bannockburn

- a lovely 7lb 8oz rainbow included in his catch of 3 fish for 12lbs 8oz - all on

Buzzers. Andy Airnes from Clackmannan first fish was a 6 pounder in his 4 fish

for 14lbs 8oz on a Coral lure, Dave Wilkie, Stirling, 5 fish for 15lbs 4oz on a small

Orange Fritz, Tony Jessop, Dundee, 5 for 13lbs 4oz on a Dark Green Damsel, John

Jessop, Dundee, 5 for 12lbs 8oz on a Damsel and Charles McKinley, Dunipace, 3 for

8lbs on a Bloodworm. Davy Black from Lochgelly used a Bloodworm to take 3 fish

weighing 7lbs 12oz, Jim Maxwell, Milton of Campsie, 3 for 9lbs on a Damsel, Anne

Orr, Tullibody, 3 for 9lbs on Dries and Graham King, Almondbank, 3 for 9lbs 8oz on

a Bibio. Robert McLaren from Crieff had a brace weighing 5lbs 4oz on a Dry Sedge.

8. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

9. SWANSWATER (Stirling) During the odd spell when the weather seemed more

like summer, the fish were nearer the surface and taking a variety of dry flies.

the rest of the week they were around 2 feet down and taking mostly nymphs

and wets with a few taking the usual small lures. With over 2 inches of rain on

Tuesday (mid-summer’s day!) the water was pretty dirty, but it cleared quickly and by

Thursday morning was back to excellent clarity. The fishing was only really affected

on Tuesday and by Wednesday lunchtime it was back on and anglers were enjoying

a lot of sport.

Ear, Diawl Bach, Spider, Hopper and Buzzer.

Some of this week’s best catches included Sandy Donald, Dunblane, 3 for 14lb 4oz

including 7lb 10oz Rainbow and 2 Blues, Mark Taylor, St Ninians, 3 for 11lb 12oz

including 2 Blues, bigger one at 6lb and a Brown, Willie Martin, Stirling, 5 for 16lb
