FORBES OF
KINGENNIE
(Broughty Ferry) Weather
conditions has again been fairly standard for this time of year,
ranging from bitterly cold and windy to pleasantly mild and calm.
Water clarity has been variable but when conditions have improved
then stalking fish on the Boathouse Pool has been very interesting
and rewarding.

11lbs and returning a further 15 fish with the best two being a
magnificent rainbow weighing 13lbs 14ozs and another fine rainbow of

Buzzers, Nymphs and lures all caught at various times.
Gordon
Hamilton enjoyed a short afternoon session on the Burnside Pool
releasing just one fish but it was a magnificent rainbow of 12lbs
which was in pristine condition. Ian Gordon certainly found the fish
and the correct method to release ten fish including fine specimens
estimated at 10lbs and 8lbs. Nick Soave took four fish for a total of
10lbs and returned a further two whilst Mr. Clark released 8 fish.
Methods varied widely from pulling Diawl Bachs and Buzzers on a
midge-tip to fishing Squirmies under an indicator.
High
winds again kept most anglers off the Bankside Pool but Andy Proven
enjoyed a short afternoon session to return seven fish taken mainly
on Diawl Bachs or Buzzers.

best method on the Woodside Pool (any legal method) was again
Powerbait fished beneath a float. One visitor had six fish for a

REPORT THIS WEEK
5.
SWANSWATER
(Stirling)
The wind continued to cause problems at the start of the week, but by
midweek the weather had turned cool, sunny and calm with some night
frosts. The better weather both brought out more anglers and woke
the fish up so that there was some excellent fishing in the latter
part of the week. Some superb fish in the 4lb to 6lb range were
landed this week, from all three ponds, with the small ponds
providing more sheltered conditions on the windier days. The water
temperature remained at 4oC all week and water clarity is excellent,
in fact many anglers are remarking on how clear the water is. The
fish were mostly to be found around 3 to 4 feet down with the bank
from the dam to the boats being the most productive area. Those
fishing from boats were doing well fishing in towards the dam.
Favourite fly patterns were Dancer, Blob, Black Fritz, Humungus,
Diawl Bach, Black Pennell, and Black Buzzer. On the bait pond power
bait and spinning were proving successful. The Fishery is open 8.00am
to 5.00pm every day.

SCOTTISH
LADIES FUNDRAISER
Fielding
an international fly fishing squad along with hosting a full scale
international is an hugely expensive business and this is the task
faced by the SANA Ladies Section when teams from England, Ireland and
Wales will fish for international medals at the end of May on the
renowned Lake of Menteith fishery.
The
Ladies have organised a fundraising competition to take place at
Ayrshire's Waterfront fishery on the 5th of April and at £25 a head
this is an absolute snip. As well as having the opportunity to fish
at one of Scotland's best small stillwaters the organisers are
throwing in breakfast and a hot lunch. There will be prizes for
first, second and third placed anglers and some great goodies to be
won in the raffle. If you would like to enter or donate a raffle
prize then please contact fishery manager Cameron Dodds on 01292 571
268.
So come
on you anglers and support the Scottish Ladies not only to fund their
team but as host nation provide the visiting teams with an event to
be remembered. You can do this by taking part in the competition or
by donating a prize for the raffle.
