Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday 24 February 2020. The report is for the week ending Sunday, 23 February 2020.
1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) THE FISHERY IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE 2019 SEASON
2. ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY (Braco) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
Because there is so much natural feeding in the water right now the fish are being attracted by bright colours so flies and lures incorporating bright green, red, yellow and orange are all doing well. The Eagle Club from Tillicoultry had 10 fish for 36lbs 8oz with A Beverage having the top bag with 3 fish for 12lbs - best fish 6lbs on a Bloodworm. On Sunday, Alexander Buses had 21 fish for 53lbs 8oz - heaviest basket S Bennie with 4 fish 12lbs - best 4lbs 12oz on a Bright Green Buzzer, Ian Law (Paisley) 3 fish weighing 7bs 8oz on a White Fritz and Alistair Sangster from Blackford used a Damsel to take 2 for 5lbs.
Greg Lockhart from Dunblane caught a couple for 5lbs 8oz on Buzzers, G Frater (Stirling) 3 fish for 8lbs on the CDC and Damsel, Jim Linton (Moodiesburn) 8 fish for 21lbs on Blobs
and Hector Wilson from Bannockburn took 3 fish for 7lbs 8oz on an Okey Dokey.
3. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
4. MARKLE (East Lothian) It has been extremely quiet of late with the very wild weather keeping the anglers indoors but those who have been out recently have done pretty well. John Daly from Edinburgh had 4 on a Dancer, Jackie Hay (Haddington) had 2 for 8lbs on c/r, Dave Smith (Dunbar) had a couple of visits taking 5 on each on a mixture of small lures and Bloodworms whilst John Thomson from East Linton used a Bloodworm to bag 5 on c/r. Bruce Hunter from Edinburgh had 3 on Buzzers, Derek DeMarco (Haddington) 4 on Buzzers and Derek Powell from Haddington had 4 on a Grizzle Cat.
5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The last couple of weeks have seen some horrendous weather conditions that have deterred even the hardiest of anglers from venturing out. The storm force winds and around 10” of rain and sleet made fishing almost impossible. The water was coloured for a few days but now there has been so much rain that it is clear again and any excess is just running straight through the ponds. Eyewater Angling Club braved wind, rain, thunder and lightning on Saturday and although they were just about blown off Swanswater, many of them had a successful few hours on the small ponds where it was much more sheltered, heading back to Eyemouth with a very respectable 22 fish amongst them. Diawl Bach Damsel, Dabbler and Dancer were the most successful patterns with the fish to be found around 2 to 3 feet down. The Fishery is open every day from 8.00am to 5.00pm.
Amongst those venturing out and catching fish were Les Cooper, Dunblane, 2 for 7lb 8oz, plus 4 C&R, Douglas Aitcheson, Eyemouth, 4 for 10lb including a Gold, Fraser Aitcheson, Eyemouth, 4 for 9lb 12oz from the Meadow Pond, Brian Douglas, Eyemouth, 2 for 7lb 4oz form the Meadow Pond including 5lb Rainbow and Ian Callow, Eyemouth, 4 for 9lb 4oz from the Meadow Pond including a Gold. Gav Adams caught and released 5 including a Tiger and a Gold, Dave Fairley caught and released 3 and David Hennessey 3 for 6lb 10oz including a Gold on the bait pond.
6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
