Lake of Menteith 12th Sept
6ft Water Temperature 14C, Clarity (Secchi disc) 1.7m .
The Lake is currently fishing well and the hot spots are difficult to pin point. Areas doing well are; Gateside,
Reedy Point, Hotel Bay, International Bay, Lochend and the Heronry (just about everywhere!). They tell me the
Ospreys have already arrived back in Africa and that might not be a bad place to be over Thursday and Friday as
wind speeds are set to high for later Thursday and Friday but hopefully calm by Saturday for the National.

Well Done Scotland
It is nice to see that we excel not only at tennis but also fishing! Scotland won the recent Loch Fly Fishing
International at Llyn Brenig in Wales. They deserved their gold medals with a tremendous catch of 52 trout for
72lb 3oz. This was 14 fish ahead of England who took silver with 38 trout for 52lb 2oz. Ireland were third with 32
trout for 45lb 10oz and Wales were fourth with 18 trout for 23lb 9oz.
The Scottish team filled the top three individual places with the Brown Bowl for the top individual going to
John Buchanan with 9 trout. John (from Gargunnock) is pictured below (centre) with Michael Callaghan (IFFA
President) and Ian Campbell (IFFA Secretary).
