Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday 10 September
2012.The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 09 September 2012.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) The best catching flies and lures last week included the

Cats Whisker, Cormorant, Kate McLaren, Damsel Nymph and the Heather Fly whilst

the top fishing areas have proved to be the North Shore from the Dow Burn drifting in

towards dam wall.

Drew Carrie & Tom Gordon (Paisley) 7 fish for 21lb, Bill Johnson (Bannockburn) 2

Wiseman from Dollar kept 4 fish weighing 12lb 4oz, Gerry Grattan (Kincardine) 2 for

kept 2 fish weighing 6lb and released 3

As far as the angling clubs were concerned SEB HQ A/C kept 33 fish weighing 83lb

8oz and released 5 and the West of Scotland A/C kept 4 fish weighing 6lb 4oz.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The fishing last week at Kingennie

has been fairly tricky with water clarity on all ponds very good. The Boathouse

anglers have been frustrated by fish following flies for the whole of a retrieve and

then turning away at the last moment. Lures and intermediate lines have taken most

of the fish but a few rods have had good returns with big dries like Foam Daddies

and the Daddy Hog. Fish on the boathouse have been averaging 5lb with the biggest

fish a rainbow of just over 10lb. Mr Bairner had a great return last week with 4 fish

weighing in at 34lb with the biggest an immaculate fish weighing 10lb 10oz

The Burnside Pool has been just as tricky with water clarity very good anglers have

had to scale down on leader strength and fly size. Floating lines have been the line

to use with the fish cruising just under the surface. Flies that have done well this

week have been small Buzzers, various CDC patterns and mini Hot Head Damsels.

The Bankside has had a fairly mixed week with the fish switching from sipping on

small naturals to chasing and bashing into fry patterns. Floating lines are still the line

of choice with the fish not too far below the surface again with the clear water there

has been a need to scale down on the strength of leader but not too much as there

have been some bigger than average fish coming out as well as some lovely blue

trout.

The Woodside Pool anglers have been faced with the same difficulties as the fly

anglers with the water clarity being very good. Anglers have needed to use much

lighter line than normal which has resulted in a few lost fish. Baits that have worked

well on Woodside have been worms and Powerbait and the killer fly of the week has

been the Orange Nomad.

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) LATE REPORT TO FOLLOW

4. MORTON LOCH (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

5. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It has been another very changeable week, which has

been the pattern all this season, with the depth the fish are being caught changing

with the weather. Dries, Buzzers, Damsel and a wide variety of Fritz patterns have

been doing well. Six year old Rhona Gallacher from Crieff had 1 fish for 2lbs on a

Damsel, Ron Thomson, Dalguise, 2 for 8lbs 12oz – best 7lbs on a Hot Head Damsel,

Earl Feighan, Bonnybridge, 4 for 15lbs 8oz on a Damsel and Scott Kilgour from

Bo’ness took 3 fish weighing 9lbs on a Damsel. Brian McFadden from Kirkintilloch

caught 3 for 14lbs 8oz on a Damsel, Colin Ellis, Auchterarder, 1 fish for 3lbs on

a Yellow Dancer, David Lewis, Larbert, 3 for 10lbs on a Kate McLaren and L De-

Lange from Crieff used a dry fly to bag a nice fish of 3lbs. Ken Clark from Lochgelly

took 4 fish for 15lbs on a Damsel, Jim Jeffery, Cowdenbeath, 1 for 6lbs on a Yellow

& Orange Fritz, Jake Munroe, Perth, 2 for 6lbs on Dries and Allan Stirling from

Auchterarder had 3 fish weighing 10lbs on a Daddy Longlegs.

6. SWANSWATER (Stirling) There was some great fishing this week, although on

the more humid days it was a bit tougher. The water clarity is excellent and fish are

being seen in the top couple of feet of the ponds.

but just turning away at the last moment. Often it was not the fly that was important

but the presentation and retrieve that were crucial to catching.

flies were taking but some days a slow retrieve was necessary and on other days the

fish were looking for something to chase.

with many good bags being recorded for anglers choosing to fish there. This week

the Fishery is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm.
