Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday, 27 August 2012
The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 26 August, 2012.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) Alan Beaumont from Falkirk kept 5 fish weighing 15lb,

Duncan Paterson, Alva, 2 fish for 6lb 12oz and released 3, Jock McKenzie,

Edinburgh, 3 fish weighing 9lb 4oz and Hamish Higgins, Perth, kept 2 fish weighing

6lb and released 1. Brendan Honeybun from Lochore caught 2 fish weighing 5lb

12oz, Jim & Crawford McEwan, Newmains, fishing with a sporting ticket caught &

released 6 and Alan Prentice (Clackmannan) kept 4 fish weighing 8lb.

On the club front the Last Cast A/C kept 20 fish weighing 42lb 10oz, St Mungo’s A/

C 16 fish weighing 41lb 8oz, Heriot A/C 20 fish for 44lb 12oz and the Kinross Ex-

Servicemen’s A/C kept 8 fish weighing 21lb 6oz.

The favourite flies and lures have included the Dadd Longlegs, Bibio Hopper, Bibio,

Sedge Muddler, Cormorant, Cats Whisker, Yellow Dancer and Sedgehogs whilst the

best fishing areas have proved to be the North Shore and the middle of the fishery.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Like the recent weather the fishing

has been varied but some excellent results have rewarded those anglers who have

persevered and found the right combination. Gin clear water and lots of natural food

has given the fish plenty of opportunity to inspect flies closely and discard all but the

best presentations. Most anglers have seen high numbers of fish moving even if they

haven't been able to convert that to fish landed. The Osprey is still thrilling us all by

visiting the resort and usually manages to catch its limit.

Results from the Boathouse Pool have varied with the weather but some

substantial rainbows have been landed. Hugh Bairner took four fish for a total of

35lbs with the biggest weighing in at 10lbs 11ozs. Another notable catch was three

fish for 25lbs to Bob McHardy. For a time it seemed necessary to fish small dry flies

and very small lures but the range of taking flies has now broadened again.

Burnside has fished particularly well in the mornings, although some have had

success during late evening sessions. Lar Findlay has been producing consistent

results with a Red Zonker but buzzer patterns have also done well.

The Bankside Pool has endured a few grumpy days where few fish were returned

but towards the end of the week results were decidedly improving. Craig Dickson

caught fifteen fish on a catch and release ticket.

The any legal method pond, the Woodside Pool, has probably been the most

consistent producer with fish averaging around 1.75lbs with one group taking twenty

four fish for a total of 44lbs. Powerbait (lime green or orange) has dominated the

catches but maggots and spinners have also achieved positive results.

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

4. MORTON LOCH (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

5. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) With there being loads of natural life in the water right

now the fish are being quite fussy about what flies and lures they are taking but

Buzzers, dry flies, Damsel Nymphs and a wide variety of Fritz patterns have been

taking fish either on the top or just under the surface.

David Quate from Greenloaning caught 1fish weighing 6lbs on a Daddy, Jim Kelly,

Airdrie, 3 for 10lbs 8oz on a Damsel, William Goldie, Glasgow, 5 for 14lbs on dries,

Jim Brooke, Grangemouth, 4 for 15lbs on Buzzers and Kevin Hingley from Alloa

had 2 fish weighing 9lbs 8oz on a Yellow Dancer. Tony Hingley from Alloa had a

brace weighing 6lbs on a Yellow Dancer, Ian Downie, Killin, 4 for 10lbs 8oz on a

Yellow Dancer, A McLellan, KIllin, 4 for 10lbs on Blobs, Jim Prentice, Tullibody, 4

for 14lbs on a Montana and Stewart MacDonald, Banknock, 3 for 11lbs on a Bibio.

Brian MacIntosh from Banknock used a Yellow Dancer to take 3 fish for 8lbs, Ian

Sloan, Almondbank, 3 for 10lbs on a Jock's Wonder Fly, Sonia Leyden, Stirling,

4 fish for 8lbs on a Rabbit and John Gilchrist from Stirling took 4 fish for 11lbs on

Buzzers.

6. SWANSWATER (Stirling) It was another frustrating week both weather and

fishing-wise at Swanswater.

showers meant the conditions were constantly changing.

on Saturday afternoon coloured the burn very quickly but it cleared just as quickly.

The rain also helped to drop the water temperature and conditions were a lot better

on Sunday than they were earlier in the week. The fish were generally sitting in the

top 18 inches of the ponds with only a few actually breaking the surface of the main

pond, although they were rising to small dry flies on all the ponds.

this week included a wide variety of lures, nymphs and wet flies with favourites

being Dancer, Cat’s Whisker, Hare’s Ear, Buzzer, Damsel, Montana and Bibio.

Successful dry flies included Sedge, Spider and CDC.

the fish were looking for something to chase and a fast retrieve was working well.

Closing time at the Fishery is now 9.00pm
