Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following fisheries on Monday, 18 June 2012
The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 11 June, 2012.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) Season ticket holder Raymond Pirrie from Tullibody fishing

catch and release had 11 fish including a wild brownie estimated at 2lb 8oz. Also

doing well was Finlay Dale from Perth who kept 4 fish weighing 12lb 12oz, Louis

Hanson & Stan Guzik (Alloa) had 5 fish for 13lb 8oz and Drew Carrie & Tom Gordon

(Paisley) took 7 fish for 18lb 8oz. Gavin Black & George Dunn from Cumbernauld

kept 6 fish weighing 18lb 8oz and Bill Lyndsay (Strathyre) had 4 fish weighing 10lb.

The angling clubs were out in force with the Rainbow A/C keeping 52 fish weighing

160lb, Perthshire F/C 6 for 21lb 9oz, Morton A/C 4 fish weighing 10lb, Doune A/C

kept 4 fish weighing 10lb 12oz and Balfour A/C 10 fish for 31lb. Roslin British Legion

A/C kept 10 fish weighing 33lb, Perth Ex-Servicemen’s A/C 6 fish for 19lb 8oz,

Kinross Ex-Servicemen’s A/C kept 7 fish weighing 19lb 12oz, North Berwick A/C 18

fish for 47lb 8oz and Bonnybridge A/C kept 15 fish weighing 41lb 8oz.

The top taking flies and lures included the Cats Whisker, Black Hopper, Red Wee

Beastie, Sedgehog, Muddler and the Kate McLaren whilst all areas of the fishery

have been performing well.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The unsettled weather this week

at Forbes of Kingennie hasn't affected the fishing much with good numbers of fish

coming off all the ponds. The osprey has been back very regularly recently but isn't

staying for long - one dive and he usually has his fish and is off again.

The Bankside has been very consistent with most methods taking a few fish,

lures such as the Damsel and the Blob are catching a few but Nymphs and Dries

have been the method. Small Hare’s Ears have been the best nymph as well as

small Shuttlecocks and the always reliable Floating Fry when things get desperate.

The largest fish this week was taken by Mr Barr with a rainbow at 7lb 9oz on a

Shuttlecock Buzzer.

The clarity in the Boathouse has been very good but and intermediate line and

small Damsels have been very consistent as well as small Cat’s Whiskers. The best

bag this week came to Mr Humphries with 4 fish for 23lb with the best fish weighing

8lb 6oz.

The fish in the Burnside have been very well spread with fish being taken on almost

any method from big lures to Buzzers to Dries. However the smaller approach

has defiantly been more productive. Mr Chalmers had a great mornings sport on

Saturday taking 4 fish for 7lb and then returned a further 13 with most falling to a

mixture of Dries and the Diawl Bach.

The Woodside has been very good for those that are willing to face the wind; most

of the fish have been getting caught fishing right into the wind with Powerbait still

being the top bait.

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) LATE REPORT TO FOLLOW

4. MORTON LOCH (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

5. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) With the strange summer weather for June there has

been a lot of great sport on top of the water as there is an abundance of life on

the top so the Diawl Bach, Daddy, Hoppers, Buzzers and a wide variety of other

flies have been doing well. The Goth FFC from Fallin had a good day in the rain on

Saturday taking 53 fish for 151lbs 12oz with G McGlug having the heaviest basket

with 4 fish for 13lbs 4oz - most of the fish were caught on the Diawl Bach.

Also doing well was Cameron Alife from Perth with 3 fish for 9lbs on a Black &

Green Fritz, Jock Millar, Stirling, 2 for 6lbs 8oz on Hoppers, Robert Kettles, Perth,

4 for 11lbs 4oz on a Yellow Dancer, Jack Forbes, Stirling, 1 for 5lbs on a Buzzer

and Gordon Gelletley from Stirling used a Buzzer to take a 4lb rainbow. Alistair

Smith from Northampton had a brace weighing 6lbs on a Daddy, Richard Wilson,

Alloa, 1 for 2lbs 12oz on a Rob Roy, William Alexander, Menstrie, 2 for 8lbs 8oz

on a Black & Green Fritz and William Smith from Menstrie caught 2 for 6lbs 8oz on

a Black & Green Fritz. Greg Lockhart from Dunblane had 3 for 10lbs on Buzzers,

John McLaren, Causewayhead, 2 for 5lbs 8oz on Buzzers and Allan Stirling,

Auchterarder, 3 fish weighing 8lbs on the dry fly.

6. SWANSWATER (Stirling) For most of the week the fishing was better in the

morning than later in the day.

and rises were few and far between. At the end of the week the water temperature

was sitting at 11oC – the coldest anyone can remember it being in June.

The cold evenings kept the fish below the surface

The

forecast for the coming week is looking a lot better so hopefully things will pick up

and both air and water temperatures will rise a bit encouraging the fish to come to

the surface and provide some good dry fly fishing.

week were the ones who went looking for the fish. A few Tigers were caught in the

burn and round the back of the islands, both areas where not many were fishing.

The first of a batch of multi-coloured trout – golds, light blues, greens and yellows –

are now being stocked, mostly in the small ponds. They are all very visible and are

already creating frustration and enjoyment amongst anglers.

The biggest blue of the year to date was landed on Saturday – a cracking 12lb

4oz specimen taking by Allan Beattie, Larkhall, in his 4 Blues for 19lb 6oz, David

McFadyen, Bannockburn, 3 for 14lb including 8lb 12oz Rainbow, Ian Munro, Stirling,

2 for 7lb from the Meadow Pond including 5lb Blue and Davy Wales, Livingston,

5 for 13lb including a Blue and a Tiger. John Mathieson, Doune, 6 Tigers for 16lb

12oz, all taken in the burn, Danny Doherty, Denny, 5 for 12lb 8oz including 4 Blues,

Frank Barr, Falkirk, 4 for 11lb 4oz including a Blue, Peter Henderson, Cumbernauld,

4 for 10lb 4oz including 3 Blues and a Tiger and Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, 3 for 8lb

12oz including a Blue. Mike Barker, Stirling, 3 for 8lb 8oz including 2 Tigers, George

Kochanek, Tullibody, 3 for 8lb 4oz including a Blue and a Tiger, David Pattinson,

Dunfermline, 3 for 7lb including 2 Tigers and a Brown from the burn and Jack

Naismith, Larkhall, 2 for 6lb 8oz including a Tiger. Robert Murdoch Jnr., 3 for 6lb 4oz

from the small ponds including 2 light blues.
