Fishing report from the Lake from Menteith

In Heat number 4 on 3/5/12, 55 anglers weighed in 131 fish for 333lbs 6oz and returned a further 125, giving a
rod average of 4.7 and a mean fish weight of 2lbs 9oz. 50% of the anglers went through and the cut off weight
was 10lbs 4oz. Davie Downie of D&B Fly Fishing, from Port Glasgow caught his 14 fish in the Butts (to be more
specific Chicken Leg Bay) on dries (9 fish) and buzzers (5 fish). Davie was fishing a 25ft cast with a booby on the
point. 2nd placed Laurie of Rainbow Warriors was also fishing in the butts and took most of his on a candy booby
and midge tip line.
In the First Heat of the Scottish Club Championships sponsored by Angling Active, 16 teams competed for the 3
available club places and 5 champion of champion places. First placed team were Change A (Jock Kettles, Kevin
McCabe and Andy Dunn) with 11 fish. In second place were Saltire AC (Gus Shepard, Derek Keenan and David
McAllister) with 12 fish and 3rd were Roscobie Loch A with 9 fish. The 5 individuals qualifying for the Champion
of Champions were Gus Shepard (Saltire) 6 fsih, Greg Donally (Craufordland) 6 fish, Jock Kettles (Change A) 6
fish, David McAllister (Saltire) 5 fish and Charlie Walls (Roscobie) 3 fish. Heaviest fish was 4lbs 8oz caught by
Andy Dunn. Top areas on Saturday night were Sandy Bay and the butts. Top tactic dries.
