The following reports are for the week ending Sunday, 06 May, 2012.

1. FRANDY (Gleneagles) Alastair MacMillan from Comrie kept 4 fish weighing 9lb,

Bill Ramage (Alva) 6 fish for 13lb, Geoff Hemmings (Kinross) 2 fish for 7lb 12oz

and John Beattie (Gateside) kept 3 fish weighing 9lb and released a further 4. Tom

Kinnaird from Crieff had 3 fish for 7lb and Brian Collins (South Queensferry) took 3

fish weighing 8lb 8oz.The clubs were out in force with the Edinburgh Civil Service A/

C keeping 28 fish weighing 63lb 8oz, Falkirk F/C kept 25 fish weighing 65lb 12oz –

heaviest caught by W Bruce with a 7lb rainbow, Turner Estate Solutions kept 5 fish

weighing 10lb and Gartmore A/C took 39 fish weighing 96lb 15oz and released 7.

Neptune Game F/C caught 35 fish weighing 84lb, Kelty Artisan 17 fish for 38lb 11oz,

Newtyle & Meigle A/C 30 fish for 68lb 6oz and the Thistle A/C kept 30 fish weighing

67lb 7oz.

The best flies and lures have included the Yellow & Coral Dancer, Black & Green

Buzzers, Kate McLaren, various Cormorants and the Ace of Spades whilst the best

fishing area was the north shore from the Dow Burn to the dam wall.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) LATE REPORT TO FOLLOW

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) There were some good catches last week with John

Thomson from Edinburgh using various Buzzers who take 10 on a C+R ticket,

Bruce Hunter, Edinburgh, had a nice one at 9lbs on a Black Lure, John Russell,

Prestonpans, had a beauty of 10lbs on a Black Buzzer and J Black also used Black

Buzzers to land a fine 8lb specimen. Jim Skilling from Shotts took 10 on C+R using

Buzzers, Peter Craig, Dunbar, had one at 10lbs 8oz on a Damsel, Colin Shillinglaw,

Edinburgh had one at 9lbs on a Yellow Dancer and R Woods took 3 for 12lbs 4oz on

a CDC.

4. MORTON LOCH (Livingston) NO REPORT THIS WEEK

5. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) The water has been fishing well with plenty of fish being

caught and a lot showing on the surface although they are being mainly caught

about one to two feet down with a wide variety of flies, it seems to be whatever takes

your fancy.

William Alexander from Menstrie used a Yellow Dancer to take a brace weighing

7lbs 8oz, William Smith, Menstrie, 2 for 6lbs on a Hot Head Damsel, Robert

McLaren, Crieff, 3 for 9lbs on a Kate McLaren and Hector Wilson, Bannockburn, 4

for 11lbs on a Black Fritz. Harry Graham from Glenrothes caught 4 fish for 12lbs on

a Coral Fritz, G Hendry, Falkirk, 4 for 13lbs on a Kate McLaren and Ron Thomson

from Dalguise took 3 fish weighing 8lbs 8oz on an Orange Fritz. Craig Wilson from

Tullibody had 4 fish for 12lbs on an Orange Tadpole, Graham Shirlaw, Tullibody, 4

for 12lbs on a Black Tadpole and Hamish Carmichael from Alloa caught a brace for

7lbs on a Black Fritz. Bob Ross from Kilsyth caught 2 for 8lbs on a White Flexi Cat,

Jock Millar, Stirling, 2 for 7lbs on a Honey Bear and Allan Morrison from Falkirk used

a Black Fritz to catch a great brace that tipped the scales at 10lbs.

6. ORCHIL LOCH COARSE PONDS (Braco) NO REPORT THIS WEEK.

7. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The continuing cold weather with biting easterly or

northerly winds led to tough conditions throughout the week. The water temperature

reached the dizzy heights of 10oC midweek but was back down to 9oC again by

Sunday thanks to overnight frosts at the end of the week.

anglers a little respite from the cold but the brightness, combined with the cold,

tended to keep the fish down to around 3 feet.

Browns in the catch returns and some nice Rainbows around 7lb feature as well.

Most fish were taken on small lures, fished on an intermediate line, although a few

nymphs and wet flies were also successful.

Cat’s Whisker, various Fritz, Viva, Damsel (especially hot-head), Diawl Bach, Hare’s

Ear and Buzzer.

Cumbernauld and Bridge of Weir British Legions held a three man team competition

on Sunday with Bridge of Weir coming out on top with 7 fish for 22lb 14oz to

Cumbernauld’s 6 fish for 17lb 5oz.

Some of this week’s good bags included Alistair Cameron, Bridge of Weir, 3 for 13lb

2oz including 7lb 8oz Rainbow and a Brown, Connor Orr, Stirling, 6lb 12oz Blue from

Millpond, Dave McKay, Glasgow, 2 for 8lb 4oz including 6lb 11oz Rainbow and Jim

Keyes, Cumbernauld, 2 for 8lb 12oz including 6lb 8oz Rainbow and a Tiger. Graeme

Arthur, Stirling, 3 for 11lb 4oz including 5lb 12oz Rainbow and a Blue, Lloyd Pitcairn,

Dunfermline, 5 for 12lb including 2 Blues and a Tiger, Peter O’Brien, Camelon, 5

Sunny spells gave

There are still plenty of Tigers and

Favourite patterns included Dancer,

for 12lb including 2 Blues and a Tiger and Gary Aitcheson, Glasgow, 4 for 10lb 8oz

including a Blue, a Tiger and a Brown. Frank Turner, Alloa, 4 for 10lb 8oz including a

Blue and 2 Tigers, Peter Johnson, Glasgow, 3 for 8lb including a Tiger and a Brown,

George Kochanek, Tullibody, 3 for 7lb 8oz including a Blue, a Brown and a Tiger and

Jim Craig, Balloch, 2 Browns for 5lb.
