The runners up were Freddie Tortolano and Dean Caulder with 8 fish for 24lbs 8oz on Buzzers. The British Legion Club from Cumbernauld also had a good day taking 20 fish for 55lbs 4oz with the top catch going to Eddie Waughton with 3 fish weighing 9lbs - best 4 lbs on a Black Snake. Other good catches included Ian Wilkie from Auchterarder with 2 fish for 9lbs - best 6lbs 8oz on a Cut Throat Cat, W Lauderdale, Broxburn, 2 fish for 8lbs 12oz on an Ally, J Wilson, Stenhousemuir, 2 fish for 9lbs 4oz on an Orange Fab, Ian Law, Paisley, 3 fish for 8lbs 8oz on a Hot Head Cat and T Grant from Glasgow used a Black & Green Fritz to bag a brace weighing 9lbs – best 6lbs.

3. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The weather this past week at Forbes of Kingennie has been a bit of a change from recent weeks. After a long spell of no rain, all this water that has fallen has given us a nice flush through of cooler water. The water coloured up when it first came through but we now have a good push of clear water coming through the system. This has really helped with the fishing and the action has picked up with some great returns coming from the ponds.
The Boathouse has been on great form as usual after a good downpour with the water clearing. Most methods have been working from lures, to the Bung, to Buzzers and Nymphs taking fish. On Saturday Mr Scott, Mr Waterston and Mr Aitkin had over 50 fish between them in an evening session. Mr Fleming had 3 for 8lb and Mr Purvis 3 for 7lbs 12oz and returned a few on a mix of Blobs and Buzzers. Mr Cormack had 2 for 11lb with the biggest at 8lb.The Burnside has been busy and anglers have been having great success on the more natural approach when the weather allows. Fishing into the wind with lures has been very effective when it gets wild. Mr Callum had 15 on a Cat’s Whisker, Mr Cowan had 14 on Dries and Buzzers and. Mr Barlow had 20+ on buzzers up to 7lb. The Bankside has followed suit and is fishing really well with the fish high in the water and being caught on Dries even in the unpleasant conditions. Mr Birse has taken nearly 40 fish in 3 sessions fishing Shipman’s Buzzers, Mr Petri and Mr Honeyman had 4 for 10lb and put back 6 and Mr McGowan had 10+ on 2 consecutive visits on dry flies. The Woodside has been busy most days even in the bad weather and there have been loads of fish getting caught as long as you are willing to move to get on top of them. For best results, this usually means fishing into the wind to where the fish have gathered. Over the weekend alone there were 32 anglers lad a total of 72 fish for 129lb. Powerbait fished under the float has been the stand out method.

4. MARKLE (East Lothian) It was a quiet week due to the very heavy rain but those venturing out had good sport. Jimmy Anderson from Musselburgh had a couple of visits taking 12 fish ibn total on Buzzers and mixed lures, Neil Raeburn, Prestonpans, 9 on Dries, David Bullen, Edinburgh, 9 on Buzzers, John Daly, Edinburgh,15 on Buzzers and Gordon Dagg from Pathead used Dries and Blobs to take 6.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The weather was changeable last week with a lot of rain and some bright hot sunshine.     Despite a wet week the water stayed quite clear and the fish remain in the top 2 feet.    The rain and the cooler nights led to the water temperature dropping from 16oC to 12oC but this had very little effect on the fish and they remain very active.    Once again the emphasis was on retrieving rather than static fishing, with a reasonably fast retrieve giving the fish something to chase being the best tactic, especially towards the end of the week.   A wide variety of flies were taking fish with anything from Hoppers to Humungus catching; and dry flies taking several fish through the week.    The biggest fish of the week, a cracking 7lb 12oz Rainbow was landed by Nan Morrison on a home-tied, size 14 Kate McLaren
Nan Morrison, Stirling, 2 for 10lb including 7lb 12oz Rainbow, Danny Doherty, Denny, 4 for 12lb 4oz including a Brown, George Dobbie, Glasgow, 4 for 10lb 8oz including a Brown plus 1 C&R, Jim McInnes, Falkirk, 4 for 10lb 8oz plus 2 C&R and Graeme Arthur, Stirling, 3 for 8lb 12oz. Billy Weir, Bannockburn, 3 for 8lb 4oz including a Brown, Gregor McGregor, Falkirk, 3 for 8lb plus 4 C&R, Colin Copeman, Falkirk, 2 for 7lb including 4lb Rainbow, Stephan Mills, Stirling, 2 for 6lb 12oz including a Brown and Bill Mouat, Shotts, 2 for 6lb 4oz including a Brown, Willie Martin, Stirling, 5lb 8oz Rainbow, Mark Tully, Camelon, 5lb Brown, John Fleming, Tullibody, caught and released 6 including a Brown, Malcolm Rees, caught and released 6 and Stewart Marshall, Cambusbarron, caught and released 3 Browns from the boat.
