2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Here at Kingennie this past week the variations in weather conditions have made fishing rather more challenging but some excellent catches have been recorded. The Boathouse Pool is clearing again after all the heavy rain at the weekend and  water clarity on the Burnside has dropped slightly as well but there are still plenty fish getting caught. In the Boathouse the best method has still been the bung with variety of flies from buzzers to the Wotsit and Squirmies. When pulling lures, Cormorants and small Damsels have been best. The Falconer party fished over the weekend doing well fishing through the dirty water on their first day when conditions were hard, by Monday morning it all came together and landing plenty fish including an 8lb 4oz rainbow and a stunning brownie weighing 8lb 10oz. Mr Noble had a nice fish of around 9lb in the 7 he returned and Mr Leslie returned 15 up to 9lb on a mix of wee nymphs. The Burnside has seen the dirty water make it slightly harder but if you can find the depth they are sat at the fishing has been good. Again the bung has been deadly with flies set from 3-6 feet deep taking its share of fish. Leggy Apps Bloodworms have been ones of the best flies as well as the Okey Dokey and lures. Mr Cheetham had 5 for 12lb and 6 returned on White and Green Lures, Mr Barlow had 11 on Buzzers under the bung with his largest around 5lb and Mr Thompson had 10 on Bloodworms and a Fab. The Bankside has seen the least pressure and those that have fished it and found the fish have had some good returns. Mr Jones had 7 on a Buzzer under a bung, Mr Barlow returned 15 on Buzzers and Mr Soave had 2 for 6lb and put back a brownie around 8lb on a White and Green Nomad. The Woodside has been fairly quiet but those fishing have done well. Spinners have been taking most fish as well as a few on a float. Mr Whitecross had 4 for 9lb, Mr Jones and his son had 4 for 8lb and Mr Arbuckle took 2 for 5lb.

4. SWANSWATER (Stirling) Despite the coloured water on some days and the changeable weather throughout the week the fishing has been really good on all three ponds at the fishery. The fish were wide spread around Swanswater with the action mostly close to the Big Tree and the Far Bay, although occasionally the Island was still the place to be. Generally the fish were sitting around 3 feet in the water however some anglers had to go to a depth of 6 feet to have success. Fish were mostly being taken on lures, including Dancer, Cat and Cormorant with black and green being the preferred colours. Others were being taken on Buzzers towards the end of the week. Wet flies including Kate McLaren are contributing to the promising signs for the start of the Brown Trout season in just over a weeks’ time, with an exceptional number of over wintered beauties being caught and released during the last few weeks. The fishery will be stocking a large quantity of outstanding Brown Trout in coming weeks, including some ‘specimen monsters’!!
