4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It was an excellent start to October on Saturday with a cold morning and lovely sunny day. With cooler clear water the fish are still taking a wide variety of flies from dries to bright sparkly lures. Most of the fish are still taking quite gently so anglers still have to slow down for them to take, but of course with the cold nights it will not be long before this will change as the water gets colder and there is not just as much natural feeding.
Doing well last week was Michael Feichan from Bonnybridge with 4 for 15lbs 4oz on a Silver Humungus, Gerry Kane, Cumbernauld, 3 for 12lbs on a Daddy, Jack Gibb, Clackmannan, 2 for 8lbs on a HH Damsel, John Score, Alloa, 3 for 14lbs 8oz on a Yellow Dancer and J. Galbraith, Inveraray, 3 for 10lbs on a Daddy and B. Eddie from Cowie bagged 3 for 12lbs on a Damsel.
5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) There was some excellent fishing this week, although some days were a bit harder than others. There are a large number of Golds and Blues in the ponds at present and these are getting caught frequently. As the end of the Brown Trout season approaches (6th October), the Brownies have become more active and several feature in this week’s catch returns. After Thursday of this week all Browns will have to be carefully returned to the water. For most of the week the fish remained in the top 3 feet of the water with many to be found just under the surface. Many anglers reported seeing fish following their flies right in to the edge before turning away to look for something else. The Dam area, Island and Boats were all doing well although fish were getting caught all-round the main pond. The small ponds continue to fish well and offer those choosing to fish them a great deal of sport as they are full of Golds and Light Blues which can be easily seen and targeted. A large variety of flies were successful this week with the most popular patterns being Damsel, Diawl Bach, Tadpole, Buzzer, Dancer, Cat’s Whisker, Cormorant, Sedge, and PTN. The Fishery will be closing at 7pm every night this week.

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) Although he water is now starting to cool down a bit Buzzers and Dries are still working well but soon it will be time to look the favourite predominately green and black hued patterns that will do the business.
