Lake fishing report
Lake
of Menteith
Report 19/04/16
6ft Water Temperature 7 C , Clarity (Secchi disc) 2.4m.
Water temperature and
clarity has remained unchanged during the last week. The bright and
breezy weather has stopped it being too easy. Anglers are saying the
loch is well stocked but the surface feeders are tricky and it is
easier to get them on an intermediate and a lure. Best areas have
been Hotel Bay, the Road shore and Lochend.
In the first of the
Scottish Angler’s National Championship
Heats (today the 19th)
the 18 boats caught 162 fish giving a rod average of 4.5 fish of
average weight 1lb 14oz. The very bright and fairly breezy conditions
made things difficult. Top bags pictured left to right were Kevin
McCabe with 16 fish, 2nd
placed was Scott Pozzi with 11 and 3rd
was Rab Maxwell with 10 fish. Kevin started off at Lochend with
Buzzers and caught here and on the Road shore with a washing line and
then finished off the day pulling a booby. The top 18 qualified and
the cut off weight was 6lbs 10.5oz.
