2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) Despite quite changeable weather, the ponds have generally fished well. The lowest returns have usually coincided with cold easterly winds, which tend to be the worst for both angler comfort and fish activity. When water conditions have been ideal, the Boathouse Pool has fished extremely well to those adopting a roving approach. Small flies have been the key to success, with Buzzers and Diawl Bachs being the most productive. Small lures have also taken a reasonable number of fish. Mr. Williamson took two fish for 6lbs and released a further ten including a well-conditioned rainbow estimated at 8lbs. Chris Watson and Liam Kirk both returned fourteen fish each. Burnside Pool was rather more moody but there were still some excellent catches. Mr. Porteous landed a fine rainbow weighing 12lbs 14ozs. Joe Westland used a variety of small flies to catch/release eighteen fish including one estimated at 7lbs. Ian Barlow and Mr. Higgins each caught/released one fish....but they were estimated at 15lbs and 13lbs respectively. Catches are starting to climb steadily on the Bankside Pool. Messrs. Ross/Taylor took seven fish for 16lbs 12oz and returned one. Ian Barlow showed that Buzzers can work in most situations if fished correctly, returning a dozen fish. Frank Sherrif also fished well, returning eleven fish taken on small lures. John Barr returned six in an evening session, the best estimated at 8lbs and Joe Westland again proved his choice of flies/methods to release eight fish with the biggest a beautiful rainbow estimated at 14lbs. Woodside Pool, the any legal method pond, had some highly productive spells along with some quieter ones. Amongst the best returns were Mr. Lorimer with seven fish for 13lbs 8oz, Mr. Murray with five fish for 11lbs, Mr. Kerr six fish for 10lbs, Mr. Goldie five fish for 9.50lbs, Mr. Martynas four fish for 9lbs, Mr. Hogg four for 8lbs 8oz and Mr. Higgins took four fish for 7lbs 8oz.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) Fishing conditions remained excellent this week and plenty of fish were being caught on all three ponds.   Water temperature remains around 70C and for most of the week the clarity was excellent although the rain all day Friday did colour things up a bit for the weekend.    Generally the fish were around 1 to 4 feet down, although they were just under the surface in the coloured water on Saturday.     The first Tiger of the year was landed on Sunday – a lovely 5lb 2oz specimen – and a good number of Browns also figured in the catch returns.    Browns and Tigers are often to be found around the bridge area, although Browns were also being taken from the roadside.   The usual wide variety of flies were attracting fish with the most popular patterns being Dancer, Cat’s Whisker, Ally McCoist, Damsel, Diawl Bach, PTN,  Montana, Snatcher, Buzzer, Bloodworm and Bibio.
