FISHING WIN FOR SCOTLANDDisplaying TEAMCELEBRATE2015.jpg

Above the Scottish Team Congratulate each other.

In most competitions Scotland does as expected for a nation of around 5million – except in fly fishing competitions where it performs considerably better than expected – especially against our old friends the English. The 2015 Autumn International at the Lake of Menteith was no exception. Scotland won by catching some big trout, narrowly defeating England who caught one more fish but had a smaller mean weight. In all 159 fish were weighed in for  389lb and a further 171 fish were returned to the water by the 56 anglers. Giving a rod average of 5.9 fish per angler of average weight 2lbs 7oz and an average bag weight of  14lbs 6oz. For the purposes of the weigh in returned fish were given an assumed smaller weight of 2lbs.

The result Summary

Scotland 91 fish 207lbs 9oz
England 92 fish 201lbs 0.6oz
Ireland 84 fish 182lbs 10oz
Wales 63 fish 139lbs 8.2oz

Top bag for the Scots was Allan Smith from Kinross with 13 trout and top bag overall was Englishman Craig Smith with 14 trout for 30lbs 0.2oz. Craig apparently caught his fish in the Butts with two boobies at each end of the cast and two cormorants in the middle – on a sink tip. The most productive area on the day was Lochend.Displaying autumn_team2015.jpg
