2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) It has been an outstanding week as the weather conditions have been great all week with very little wind and overcast most days. This has brought the fish right up to the surface with floating lines being all that’s needed to catch them. The nights are starting to draw in now but the ponds are still open until around 7.45 when it gets dark. The Boathouse is still very clear and this has led to the fish not chasing flies quite as much but they are still getting caught with Cats Whisker’s, Blobs, Squirmies, Black Buzzers and Dries doing well. The biggest fish of the week was caught and returned by John Thompson with a blue trout estimated at around 14lb caught on a Cats Whisker along with another 7. Other notable captures have been Mr Watson with 12 fish returned on the washing line with fish of 8lb, 9lb and 10lb as well. Mr Stones had 3 for 11lb with the largest weighing 6lb 8oz on Damsels. The Burnside has been fishing fantastically well last past week with some outstanding returns this week, the water has got even clearer and this has helped but you have to get the method right. By far the best return was by regular David Simpson who had 43 fish caught and returned with the largest estimated at around 12lb, his fish were taken on a mix of Blobs and Squirmies fished on a floating line. David is also representing Kingennie at the Trout Master final at Grafham water on Monday, good luck. Mr Barlow continued to catch plenty fish on his wee flies with an Orange Sedge and small Buzzers taking 25 fish in an evening session. There have been a lot of big fish being caught and released this week which is nice to see, some of these captures include Mr Thompson’s 11lb blue on a black and green lure, Mr Birse 11lb rainbow on a Damsel, Mr Birse’s 12lb blue on a Floating fry, Mr Kydd’s 11lb rainbow on a Cat and Mr Valentine had 14lb rainbow on a Hot Head Cat. The Bankside has not seen many anglers fishing it due to the water level being down around 12inchs and because the Burnside has been fishing so well. Some of those anglers that have fished have done very well though. Mr Gordon took 10 on a small yellow lure; the biggest being around 5 lb. Mr Jones had 9 on Buzzers and a Floating Fry. The Woodside is still very busy and plenty fish getting caught. A bubble float and Powerbait is still the best method but there have been lots of fish on maggots which makes a change. The best fish of the weekend went to Mr McAllister with a 2lb 12oz rainbow on a maggot. There were 58 anglers fishing over the weekend and landed a total of 93 fish for 153lb

3. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) With the clear water it has been a very good week of great sport watching the fish take in the water.   A wide variety of dries and lures have been catching and at present the opinion is that something bright is attracting the fish away from the abundance of natural feeding.
Dave Lawson from Methven took 5 fish for 18lbs 8oz – best 7lbs 4oz on an Olive Green Damsel, S. Fulton, Barrhead, 3 for 12lbs on Hoppers, Craig McNeish, Bishopton,4 for 14lbs on a Damsel, Eaddie Ralston, Bishopton, 4 for 11lbs on a Damsel and P. Ross from Kilsyth took 3 weighing 11lbs – best a 6lb blue on Buzzers. Jack Gibb from Clackmannan caught a brace weighing 10lbs 8oz – best 7lbs o an Ally, Hamish Carmichael, Alloa, 2 for 8lbs 8oz on a Blue Ally, Dave Wilkie,                 Stirling, 3 for 15lbs 8oz – best 6lbs on a Hot Head Olive, Thomas Bramley, Stirling, 4 fish for 12lbs 8oz on a Yellow Dancer and Barbara Short from Falkirk used a Viva to catch a fish of 2lbs 4oz. Kirstie Pirie from Perth caught 2 for 8lbs on a Buzzer, W. Murray, Alexander's FC, 4 for 17lbs – best 6lbs on a Damsel, R. Gardiner, Alexander's FC, 3 for 14lbs – best 7lbs 4oz on a Damsel and Jim Duncan from Alva had 3 for 10lbs 4oz on a Humungus. D. McKendrick from Alva caught 2 for 9lbs on a Sedge and Alex Fitzsimmons, Fintry, 4 for 15lbs on a Daddy.

4. MARKLE (East Lothian) Willie Brash had a great basket of 13 fish using Buzzers, Richard Anthony, Penicuik, 11 on Buzzers, George Charters, 11 on Buzzers and Jack Hay from Haddington took 10 also on Buzzers. John Thomson from East Linton used Dries to bag 7, Neil Raeburn, Edinburgh, 6 on Buzzers and Derek DeMarco from Haddington took 5 on lures.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) A good week’s sport was had at Swanswater with lots of follows and takes being experienced by anglers, although at times it was a little frustrating.   It was sometimes hard to get the fish to actually commit and quite a number were lost. Several anglers reported being broken or having hooks straightened which shows the big fish are still interested and putting up a great fight.Yet another big Tiger was taken from the burn area, this one weighing in at 8lb 9oz.    Fish are still to be seen moving and feeding on or just under the surface, but they are a bit picky.   Having said all that, plenty of fish were taken during the week, although the weekend proved to be a bit harder. The fish are well spread out round the ponds with no particular hot spots.  The water remains beautifully clear and the weed is well under control.Early in the week dry flies were doing very well with Sedges being favoured in particular.Other successful flies included Damsel, Diawl Bach, Dancer, Montana, PTN, Kate McLaren, Blob, Hopper, Cruncher and Buzzer.
Gregor Bulloch, Polmont, 8lb 9oz Tiger, Willie Martin, Stirling, 5 for 17lb 4oz, Frank Barr, Falkirk, 5 for 16lb 5oz plus 3 caught and released, Danny Doherty, Denny, 4 for 13lb 12oz, Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, 4 for 12lb 8oz and George Dobbie, Glasgow, 4 for 12lb 4oz. Andy Henderson, Glasgow, 4 for 12lb 4oz, Alan Stirling, Bonnybridge, 4 for 12lb, Agris Kalns, Stirling, 3 for 10lb, Peter Bryce, Alloa, 3 for 9lb 12oz, Sandy Donald, Dunblane, 3 for 9lb 6oz, Brian Eadie, Cowie, 3 for 9lb 4oz and Brian Maskell, Oban, 2 for 7lb 6oz including 4lb Rainbow. Graeme Arthur, Stirling, 2 for 7lb 4oz plus 2 caught and released, Alistair Irvine 4lb 12oz Rainbow, Allan Whitton, Stirling, 4lb Rainbow and Donald McMurchie, Fallin, 3lb Brown.
