2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) NO REPORT THIS WEEK
3. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It has been another good fishing week with plenty of good sport being enjoyed by anglers. On Saturday the Falcon FFC had a good morning taking 30 fish for 103.1/2 lbs with John Scullion having the heaviest basket with 4 fish for 16 lbs on a Sunburst. Kenny Low from Stirling caught 2 fish for 9lbs on a Daddy, Colin Clement, Tyndrum, 2 for 9lbs on a Diawl Bach, Tex, Cornton, 2 for 10lbs 8oz – best 6lbs on a Dog Nobbler, Frank Leighton, Alva, 2 for 12lbs on a Yellow lure and John Lamp from Kippen used a Yellow Fritz to catch 2 weighing 8lbs. Jim Prentice from Tullibody bagged 3 for 14lbs on a Yellow lure, Alex Fitzsimmons, Fintry, 4 for 14lbs on a Daddy, Harry Isherwood, Cumbernauld, 2 for 9lbs – best 5lbs on an Ally and Robert Chapman from Linlithgow had 4 for 16lbs 8oz on Buzzers. 4. MARKLE (East Lothian) John Daly from Edinburgh took a terrific brace weighing in at an astonishing 18lbs on a Black & Green Rabbit and Irvine Watersports had a great outing taking 34 fish weighing 88lbs – Mick McKinnie from Saltcoats took their heaviest fish with a 6lb specimen. Derek DeMarco from Haddington took 6 on lures, Mattie Devine, Hadston, had 23 on the Diawl Bach and Lures, Malcolm Roberts, Dalkeith, 6 on a Black & Green Rabbit and David Savage from Penicuik had 8 on the Rabbitiser.
5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) Last week’s somewhat mixed weather, with cool nights and some warm days, meant mixed fishing at Swanswater. Once again lots of fish were being seen and anglers were getting loads of follows, but sometimes it was hard to connect or hang on to fish. On the days when it was calm and overcast the fish were up in the top 18 inches of the water and taking dry flies, other days they were a bit deeper and looking for small lures or nymphs. Anglers fishing a reasonably quick retrieve were getting a huge amount of sport either on or just below the surface; those fishing static often fared less well. Favourite patterns this week included Sedge, Yellow Owl, Caddis, Bumble, Cormorant, PTN, Greenwell, Kate McLaren, Hare’s Ear, Damsel, Dancer and Buzzers – when retrieved. The Fishery is now closing at 7pm.
Martin Stewart, Glasgow, 5lb 8oz Tiger, Keith Muckersie, Peebles, 5 for 14lb, Alan Knox, Peebles, 5 for 11lb 12oz from the small ponds, Frank Barr, Falkirk, 4 for 13lb 4oz, Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, 4 for 12lb 8oz and B and M Dale, shared 4 for 12lb. Gregor McGregor, Alloa, 3 for 9lb 4oz, Jim Craig, Balloch, 3 for 9lb, Eddie Murphy, Oban, 3 for 8lb 8oz including 2 Blues, Billy Weir, Bannockburn, 3 for 8lb 4oz including a Brown and John Mooney, Queenzieburn, 2 for 8lb. Mike Bolton, Maddiston, 2 for 8lb, Willie Martin, Stirling, 2 for 6lb 12oz, Graeme Arthur, Stirling, 2 for 6lb 8oz plus 3 caught and released, Rudi Graham, Oban, 2 Blues for 6lb 8oz, James Henderson, Stirling, 2 for 6lb 8oz and David Halcrow, Stenhousemuir, 2 for 6lb. Gary Waugh, Cumbernauld, caught and released 15 from the boat and Blane O’Donnell caught and released 8.
6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) The fishery has been performing really well of late with some great buzzer hatches producing some great sport. But when the buzzers go off then something a bit bigger and flashier like the Ally McCoist, Yellow Dancer or a Humungus fished on an intermediate or slow sinker will produce the goods.
Davie Cairns from Kirkintilloch took 1 for 4lbs, Mr Dockrell, Lenzie, 1 at 4lbs, Paul Crises, Stirling 3 rainbows and 1 blue on C+R, John Ross, Kilsyth, a at 6lbs returned and Pat Harte from Bishopbriggs caught 7 weighing in at 21lbs 8oz.
