4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It was a very quiet start to this week with freezing cold winds and snow quite the opposite from Saturday when it was 19 degrees. Hopefully it will stay warmer now which will make it a pleasure to be fishing. There has been a wide variety of flies catching fish in the last few days, just under the surface to 2 - 3 feet down.
Dave Wilkie from Stirling had 2 for 7lbs on an Olive, Dave Lawson, Methven, 3 for 7lbs 8oz on a Green Fritz, Jim Marshall, Stirling 3 for 12lbs – best 6lbs on Buzzers and Ronnie Stanovich from Glasgow took 3 for 10lbs 8oz – best 5lbs 8oz on a Black Fritz. 5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The week started with sleet and snow showers and ended with glorious warm, sunny spring weather. The fish were 3-5 feet down at the start of the week but were in the top 2 feet at the weekend. There was some excellent fishing with Thursday, Friday and Saturday the best days, but plenty of fish being taken on the other days as well. Some lovely fish in the 4lb to 5lb range were landed this week including a couple of cracking Browns around 4lb 8oz. The fish were well spread out round the ponds for most of the week, with the island and dam being hotspots from time to time. Lures, nymphs and wets were all taking fish with Buzzers doing particularly well. Small dry flies were also catching when the conditions were warm and calm. The biggest fish of the week was a 15lb Pike taken by Paul Christie. We have no idea where this fish came from but hopefully it was a one off as there have been no signs of any other, smaller pike in the water in the last 17 years!
