2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) It Has been a fairly settled week at Kingennie with lots of warms spring sunshine really kick-starting growth all over the ponds. This has certainly helped the insect life as there are some outstanding hatches coming off and this has led to some buzzer fishing that has been spectacular. This in turn has brought on some really good evening rises very early in the year. The osprey has also been back very regularly, usually in the early evening to grab a quick fish before disappearing. The Burnside has been the stand out pond this week for the number of fish getting caught as well as some big fish as well. Buzzers have been the stand out method with black and red or olive and red being the stand out colours. For those fish lures a hot head damsel or blob fished on a fairly fast retrieve has been best. When the rise has been on either Hoppers or Suspenders have been the effective method either fished static or stripped under the surface making them bow wave after you for some really exciting fishing. Mr Spottiswoode had 25+ on Hoppers and Wets including specimens of 6lbs and 7lbs, Mr Barlow 23 on Buzzers and Hoppers best 8lbs and Mr Birse took 21 over 3 short trips including 1 at 4lbs and 1 at 7lbs on the Damsel Nymph. The total for the week was an outstanding with 61 c+r anglers putting back 338 fish. The Boathouse has been a bit murky this week but still produced some outstanding results. Most are still fishing lures but the Buzzers are just as effective in there. On Monday Mr Kirk had day he won’t soon forget when he landed 30 fish on Buzzers and Fabs on the washing line and this included 1 wee brown, 3 blues and 3 fish over 5 lb. Mr Bairner had 4 fish for 15lb 9oz with the biggest weighing 9lb 2oz as well as 15 returned on Yellow Dancers. Mr Rice had a good day landing 4 fish including his new personal best rainbow with a fish of 7lb exactly. The Bankside almost seemed forgotten about this week but it was still fishing just like the other ponds. The fish are well spread in here at the moment and mobile approach as always is paying off. Mr Marshall took 11 one evening including a 7lb+ fish on Black Fabs, Mr Cowan had 14 on Dries with the best estimated at around 5lb and Mr Soave had 4 for 11lb on Damsels. The Woodside has been much better this week with a huge spread of fish all over the pond making the fishing much more consistent. Worms and Powerbait have been the best baits as long as you were fishing quit shallow around 3 to 4 feet deep. Mr Bell had 10 fish for 16lb 12oz, Mr Burton and his son had 8 for 13lb and Mr Jones had 4 for 7lb.

SWANSWATER (Stirling) It was a week of huge contrasts in the weather with hot, sunny, calm and often cloudless days for the first part of the week, followed by cool and breezy conditions at the weekend with showers of rain, hail and sleet! The fishing was also a bit variable with some days harder than others, but overall it was a good week and there were some great bags of fish landed. There is still a good selection of various coloured fish being caught and several cracking fish in the 4lb to 7lb range were landed including some excellent Browns. The fish are still moving round the water but the best areas this week included the channel between the island and the roadside, the dam and the area around the big tree. When it was really bright and sunny they were around 4 feet down, coming up to around 2 feet during cloudier spells. Most were taken on nymphs such as Diawl Bach, Hare’s Ear and Buzzer with other successful patterns being Dancer, Cat’s Whisker, Cormorant, Snatcher and Bloodworm.
