The Kate McLaren, Sedgehog, Mini Muddler Red & Green Cormorant, Hot Head Damsel and the Okey Dokey are all working well whilst the best fishing areas are on both banks from the start of dogleg to the dam wall.

2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) It has been another very busy week here at Forbes of Kingennie with the summer sunshine bringing out a lot of anglers. We could maybe do with a wee bit rain to freshen up the ponds but the water level in all the ponds is just right with last year’s maintenance work on the dam walls seeming to have worked perfectly. The Bankside is starting to fish much better after being quite fussy for the last couple of weeks. A lot of fish have been getting caught on lures with Yellow Dancers and the Rob Roy being first choice. When the weather has suited there have been fish getting caught on dries but cold winds have made it hard. Black and green Buzzers have been the best natural pattern. Young Robert continued to show his ability landing 17 fish over the weekend mostly on Buzzers. Mr Soave landed 7 for 16lb on a black and green lure and Mr Mitchell had 2 fish for 6lb and put back another 7 on Buzzers. The Boathouse has been very steady with a really good spread of fish throughout the pond. Again lures have been popular but Nymphs have been more consistent. Mr McIntyre had a good morning on Friday putting back 9 fish with the biggest being estimated at around 10/11lb all on a small black and green lure. The Boyd party took 12 fish for 19lb and put back another 23 over the weekend. Mr Bairner had a bag of 4 fish for 17lb including an 8lb rainbow and a 4lb blue. The Burnside continues to be the most consistent pond with fish following whatever wind there is, if you are able to cast into the wind there have been great rewards. Mr Brown took 4 for 7lb and put back 9 using Diawl Bachs. Mr Gall had 7 including a 6 pounder on a Yellow Dancer.  With the water being as clear as it is dries have been a great method if the weather allows. The Woodside is still fishing really well with Powerbait being the best method by far. With water being really clear it is proving to be very important to use lighter line as the fish have been a little shy. The Smart family did well landing 10 fish for 17lb on Powerbait. Mr Carr landed 4 fish for 7lb and Mr Jones and his son had 4 fish for 6lb.

3. MARKLE (East Lothian) The heaviest taken off last week was a tremendous 18lb 12oz rainbow taken on a small Black Gnat by Tommy Dickson from Dunbar, Mike Blackwood, Hawick, had a great catch of 6 on the Diawl Bach including a rainbow of 12lbs 8oz and a blue of 7lbs 8oz and Darryl Young from Portobello had a nice fish of 6lbs on a Hopper. Also doing well was James McQuater from Eyemouth with 8 on the dry including one at 6lbs 4oz, Bruce Hunter, Edinburgh, 7 on the Damsel, David Todd, Morpeth, 8 on Hoppers and Barry Nicolson, Morpeth, took 10 also on the Hopper.
4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It has been disappointing that the good weather has not continued with the fish all being caught on the surface and then the drop in temperature with the wind they are down under the surface again. On Saturday the Falcon FFC had a good morning taking 39 fish for 105lbs 12oz with Ian Brown taking the heaviest basket with 4 fish weighing 12lbs 12oz. Ronnie Stanovich from Glasgow had 3 fish for 9lbs on Spiders, Jim Prentice, Tullibody, 3 for 8lbs on the Damsel, Stuart Terry, Perth, 3 for 9lbs on Buzzers and David Murray from Airdrie used a Sedge to take a nice fish of 3lbs. Bill Stanfield from Bridge of Allan had a brace weighing 4lbs 8oz on a small black fly, Mark Brownrigg,          Callander, 2 for 5lbs on a Damsel, Greig Lockhart, Dunblane, 3 for 8lbs on Buzzers and Jack McNally from Dunning took 2 for 5lbs on an Ally McCoist. Bob Garvie from Lennoxtown used a Lime Buzzer to bag 3 for 8lbs and Harry Isherwood,              Cumbernauld, 2 for 4lbs on a dry May Fly.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The fishing was a wee bit harder last week due to the unsettled weather but certainly better in the early morning and evening when the wind lessened. The fish are still to be found in the top three feet and are generally well spread out but the tigers are browns are mainly to be found in the burn area. The top taking flies have included Buzzers, Damsels, Dancer, Ace of Spades, Invicta, Kate McLaren, Bibio and Blobs but dries are doing well on the smaller ponds.
Andy Kennedy from Kilbirnie had 5 for 16lbs including a blue, Alana Caisley, Kilbirnie, 5 for 14lbs 3oz including a brown, Ricky Goodwin, Larbert, 4 for 13lbs including a brown and Henry Thomson, High Valleyfield, 4 for 12lbs 12oz including a blue and a brown. K O’Hara from Linlithgow took 4 for 11lbs 4oz including 2 blues and a tiger, Ian Caisley, Kilbirnie, 4 for 10lbs 14oz including a blue, brown and a tiger, Jim Meikle, Brightons, 3 for 10lbs 8oz including a tiger and Drew Borland, Kilbirnie, 3 for 9lbs 8oz including a blue.

6. WOODBURN (Milton of Campsie) The best basket off last week was recorded by Jim Bolan from Stepps who used the fly to catch and release a terrific 6lb brown trout and also keep 3 rainbows for 9lbs 8oz. Also doing well on the fly was George Cairns who had one at 3lbs, George McKean from Kirkintilloch took a brace weighing 4lbs 2oz. Alan Cuzen, Drumchapel, 3 for 6lbs 4oz and Peter Tanner from Kirkintilloch caught 3 for 4lbs. Ian Allan from Falkirk had 8 on catch and release and Peter Thomson, Falkirk, returned 9. The best taking flies have included the Yellow Dancer, Damsel Nymph, Ace of Spades, Buzzers and various dry flies.
On the bait front Pat Harte from Bishopbriggs took one at 2lbs 3oz, Derek Grey, Kirkintilloch, 2 for 4lbs 1oz, Robert Morrison, 2 for 6lbs 4oz, Mr Fulton, Lenzie, 4 for 9lbs 5oz and Alan Hughes from Glasgow caught 4 fish weighing 8lbs 9oz.
