The top taking flies and lures included the Hopper, Daddy Longlegs,, Yellow Dancer, Blobs and Fritz Olive Damsels whilst the best fishing area is on the
North Shore from the Dow Burn to the Dam Wall.
2. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry) The fishing on the Boathouse Pool this week has been made hard by the gin clear water anglers have been able to target fish but if your cast is a bit off or leader too obvious the fish will simply follow then turn away so a fine balance has to struck between scaling down on leader size and being able to land the fish you have targeted. Joe Westland managed the best fish of the week he managed to tempt a cracker of a fish that dipped the scales to 11lb. The best times to fish the Boathouse are first thing in the morning and last thing a night, single fly fished on 6lb leader has been the most productive method fly choice has been somewhat varied, natural flies have taken most of the fish but some have fallen to lures, Blobs and Boobies. The Burnside Pond has fished very well with most methods taking fish. Floating lines, intermediates and sinkers have all been used to good effect; again fly choice has been varied with everything from small Buzzers to huge lures taking fish. The dam wall repairs are now finished on the Woodside Pool and we will be back to normal fishing conditions shortly.
3. MARKLE (East Lothian) The biggest fish taken last week was a cracker of 15lbs taken on a Green Nymph by P Irvine from Edinburgh. 4. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) On Saturday with the chill in the morning the fish were being caught down about 2 - 3 feet down with Buzzers, Damsel and Blobs. It has been a great summer for dry flies and many anglers have enjoyed great sport and seeing the fish taking with the clear water with an abundance of natural life on the top and in the water.

5. SWANSWATER (Stirling) The change in the weather at the weekend with rain and strong winds on Sunday, has reduced the water temperature and freshened conditions at Swanswater. Although the burn area was a little dirty on Sunday afternoon, the rest of the water remained crystal clear throughout and there was a definite improvement in the fishing. The fish have come up in the water and were being taken around 2 feet down. They are much more lively and taking aggressively.
Favourite flies this week included the usual small lures, but more successful were nymphs such as Diawl Bach, Hare’s Ear, Damsel and Buzzers. Muddlers and Sedges were also taking fish especially if they were retrieved quickly to make a wake which attracted the fish. More Tigers are being landed with their favourite spot still in the mouth of the burn, although they are also being taken from the area around the big tree. In general the main pond was fishing well all round, although from time to time the island was a bit of a hot spot.
Stephen Anderson, Glenrothes, 5 for 18lb 5oz including 5lb 6oz Tiger plus 6 returned, John Moyes, Grangemouth, 7lb Rainbow, David Aitken, Glasgow, 2 for 9lb 7oz including 6lb 3oz Rainbow and a Tiger and Lee Currie, Stirling, 2 for 8lb 12oz from the Millpond including 6lb 10oz Rainbow and a Blue. Steven Mason & son, Jordan, Cumbernauld, 6 for 14lb 12oz including 4 Blues, Danny Doherty, Denny, 5 Blues for 12lb 8oz, Donald McMurchy, Fallin, 5 for 11lb 10oz including a Tiger and Jimmy Robb, Edinburgh, 3 for 9lb 10oz. George Kochanek, Tullibody, 3 for 8lb 12oz including 2 Blues and Ian Whitfield, Denny, 3lb 4oz Tiger.
6. WOODBURN FISHERY (Milton of Campsie) Despite the fishing generally being quiet due to the very changeable weather there were some good catches made including that from Steven Griffin from Kilsyth who used a Damsel to land 3 rainbows for 7lbsd 2oz, Robin Hood, Kilsyth, had 1 rainbow at 2lbs 4oz on a Buzzer, Alan Taylor from Glasgow took 3 rainbows on a catch and release ticket using a Daddy Longlegs and Donald Simms from Kirkintilloch bagged 4 rainbows for 10lbs 2oz on a Buzzer. Fishery owner, Sandy Bankier, had a rare cast and took a superb 4lbs 8oz brownie on a dry fly and John Shaw from Kilsyth, fished catch and release, to take 3 rainbows for 10lbs 8oz, 1 brown trout at 5lbs and also missed a double figure brown.
The bait fishers also did well with William Wright from Kilsyth taking 8 rainbows weighing 20lbs 2oz on worm, Jim Taylor, Kilsyth, landed 3 for 10lbs 7oz, Walter Hill, Kirkintilloch, had 4 rainbows for 12lbs 7oz on worm and John Stark from Kilsyth landed 3 rainbows weighing 6lbs 7oz on maggot.
